CRSC Confusion

I am honestly so lost. Retired 100% disability 14 years, dod also 100% PDLR (asthma main one at 100% others too) we believe retirement would be around $2,500 based on the SPB premium we pay monthly. Disability is $4,500 ish. If approved what are we looking at for payment? Thank you!

Need more information. What % do you expect to be approved for? If 100% asthma and you have been deployed to middle east then CRSC would be 100% too. What is your high 3? Take your last 36 months of pay and total it and then divide by 36 to get this number. There are several caps for CRSC. The main one is the maximum pay cap. You can't get more than the total of your earned longevity pension + VA disability. CRSC is there not to blindly get you extra income. Its there to make you whole and for you to recoup monies lost due to the VA offset since you didn't hit 20 years.

Also, need your exact VA disability $. If you estimate then your CRSC estimate will be less accurate.

Off topic, but for asthma, do you take xolair? Or daily 50mg+ prednisone pills? Trying to see how you got 100% alone for asthma. I believe I am going to be 60% baed on my multiple short courses of prednisone within 12 months.

And @Provis, if someone is referred for asthma a year after returning back from UAE, are you saying they *should* apply for CRSC and it *should be approved*? Is this based on the PACT act/presumptive? Thanks.

Daily meds are advair, singular and spirvia and still blowing through albuterol and needs multiple courses of prednisone a year. Tried injections but had anaphylactic reaction so haven’t tried that again.

We expect 100%, High 3 is $3,063 and disability is $4,542

If rated for a presumptive condition and you went to an eligible country you will be approved for CRSC. My wife was approved for Asthma, & Sinusitis because she had VA ratings for those conditions and she was deployed to Kuwait and Iraq. Those 2 country were part of the list of ones for the Pact Act.

Wow that's interesting. I've never heard of anyone getting 100% for asthma unless they were taking Xolair (classified as an immunosuppressant on the VA formulary). And that was only one case I read board of veteran appeals. Everyone usually gets 30% (for daily meds) or 60% (for 4+ prednisone prescriptions). Glad to hear you got 100% from the one condition! Hopefully you are receiving SMC-S.

Im AD and my meds are trelegy, singular, and nucala injections as well as the albuterol. Also the prednisone.

Yes I heard this was the case but whenever I check the PACT Act, Asthma is the only condition on the list that says "... that was diagnosed after service" so I figured we wouldn't be eligible since we are diagnosed during service. But yes, I've been deployed to two locations on the list within the past 3 years and diagnosed after coming back.

I think it is due to how bad the pulmonary function test was in conjunction with the meds that got the 100%.

Can be during service too. My wife was Active Duty and was diagnosed while on Active Duty. She wasn't able to be rated by the VA until she entered IDES with temporary ratings. Once they were finalized after she got out because she was a veteran she applied and was approved.
