Hi all! Any help with the crsc numbers you could throw my way would be great... math (esp VA math) was never my strong suit. Thanks!

40% medically retired from Army
14yrs 10mo AD service
100% from VA
90% CRSC
Married with 2 kids, 10 yrs and 2yrs old

Hello,

What is your average high three base pay
OR
the gross retirement pay on your DFAS RAS...that amount would be in the upper left column of the statement on page one?

Ron

Gross retired pay on the RAS is 1642 (but since VA pay/waiver is in effect, I opt for that instead of retired pay.)

thanks, Ron!

Hello,

Case.

40% medically retired from Army
14yrs 10mo AD service
100% from VA
90% CRSC
Married with 2 kids, 10 yrs and 2yrs old
Gross retired pay on the RAS is 1642 (but since VA pay/waiver is in effect, I opt for that instead of retired pay.)

Estimate:

Base on your info...

1. 1642/0.40 = 4105 high three base pay for retirement
2. 14.83 AD years x 0.025 = 37.08% longevity multiplier
3. 4105 x 0.3708 = 1522.13 longevity portion of retired pay
4. 1522.13 is the ceiling and less than the CRSC approved percentage/amount

5. Your CRSC should be 1522.13 based on the info you provided.

You made a good choice regarding the VA compensation. It would have been a good choice even if the VA comp was less than the retired pay because you would have retained the residual retired pay after the reduction of retired pay by amount of VA comp.
