Thanks for sharing. Best wishes in retirement.

No Alex. The DOD rating of 60 is based of the conditions that brought you to being in the IDES process. The VA is the rating for all the issues that have come about from your service and were rated by the VA. I have 80 DOD and 90 VA.

DOD 80=PTSD/Shoulder ligament tare (20)

VA 90=PTSD (70)/Shoulder (20)/Knee (10)/Back (20)/Hearing (10)/Left Shoulder (10)

I was put into the IDES process for PTSD and my Right Shoulder. Hence why my rating is 80 DOD (75 VA which gets rounded up) and 90 VA because I have more issues than I was referred for but those two issues are the ones that will keep me from doing my job.

Hope that helps explain it for you Alex

and what’s gonna be in general the rating with dod & va?

I am so confused.... and I need help. What happens if I get 60% dod and 90% va? They combined this ratings and I get 100 or what? I’m so frustrated
What you get in terms of dollars depends of lots of variables. I suggest you chat with @RonG. Ron was a finance guy while AD. His pencil is sharp!

@StellarAirman , my unfitting conditions were behavioral health (the VA/PEB combined GAD, insomnia, and depression under one condition) and R ankle post-op arthritis after two attempted surgeries Aug 2018, April 2019 due to 2 initial ankle fractures, torn ligament, rupture synovial capsule and partial Achilles tendon tear indicated by radiology.

@Alexandra32 , 30% and higher DOD rating indicates military medical retirement, the VA % would indicate the amount of monthly compensation received upon discharge.

*** I have a question if anyone may help, can someone break down the process once i receive by ETS date? What would that be indicated as on which document? How does my regular leave and possible terminal/ETS leave may be incorporated? Would that also be associated with the leave granted by the commander?? and if so, would any documentation facilitate and encourage commander-granted leave such as a school acceptance letter, job application/acceptance? Thank you in advance.
