Hello forumers,

I am currently in alot of pain, it first started with a left ankle sprain that I rolled multiple times playing basketball, no fractures but it constantly aches for months now, the pain has spread to my entire foot and up to my knees and my entire left leg muscles. Also, my right leg is also shot but not as bad as my left one. I have a sleep study coming up for sleep apnea and is probably a contributing factor to my body aches that never goes away. How do i go about getting diagnosed for Fibro? I can't take the pain anymore and I want out, I know sleep apnea is not a condition that can get me out. I am an E-3 in the Navy.

Have you gone to the doctor and explained how your feeling and what hurts? It may be treatable.

I have only gone to my PCM and Physical Therapist for my left ankle and knee and they have prescribed Naproxen which doesn't help even for my body aches such as my back/neck/leg muscles. Should I ask to go see a rheumatologist?

I'd start with explaining your concerns with your PCM and go from there.

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and what you describe is not fibromyalgia. You will need to be diagnosed by a Rheumatologist to have the VA except it. You have what would probably be considered chronic pain syndrome, ie a catch all to explain an un-diagnosable pain.

Please express these concerns to your PCM and he will help guide you to the correct specialist to address your problems. However, if you are just looking for something to get a ticket out of the service I wouldn't go the Fibro route. You'll be sitting and waiting forever.
