On April 28th I was placed on code 37, and on May 4th my profile updated to reflect the change. I spoke with my PCM this week about what was next and she said she didn't know. After spending a few days reading through these forums I have a few questions:

1. Is the NARSUM next? And if so, what part do I have in it?

2. When do I hear from the Peblo people?

3. Where does the Commander's letter fall in place in this process? Is it my SQ Commander or Flight Commander? Do I help write this letter?

4. My initial MEB claim is for "muscle weakness," but I have't been able to get a dead set diagnoses on this condition over the last 18 months. So far I have seen 8 specialists and none of them have an answer to my condition. Some of them have alluded to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, but I haven't actually been diagnosed with it. I do meet 7 of the symptoms but it seems as though I can't find a doctor who is familiar with the condition. My next step is to see a neuropsychologist in a month or sooner, but the MEB process could be moving along by then. Essentially what I am asking is how would they rate an undiagnosed condition?

The NARSUM will be written by your PCM. Depending on the PCM, they may have you assist. I wrote mine and gave it to my doctor.

Once you are put in for the MEB, your case will go to the DAWG. At the point, you will hear from the PEBLO (or should). The DAWG reviews the case and then sends it forward.

The CC letter is usually written by the Sq CC, but depending on the commander, they may ask for input from your chain or you.

Undiagnosed conditions are a pain. They may rate based on symptoms or if a dx comes back later, it can be added in/you can appeal.

Have you seen a neurologist? Is this muscle weakness changing, if so what makes it worse? Could be CFS but it could also be something like MS or in my case, Myasthenia Gravis. If you have unexplained muscle weakness you definitely need to see a neuro!! Don't let them MEB you without a diagnosis, you will get railroaded. The Army tried this with me.

Yes I have seen two neurologists. The first one said my condition wasn't his specialty. The second one treated me for migraines and referred me to rheumatology for the rest of my symptoms. I had my first appointment with rheumatology a week ago and he isn't too sure with what to diagnose me for at this moment. However, in his notes he did suggest that it could be CFS but not all of my symptoms lean towards CFS. At the moment he is being pretty thorough and ordered two dozen blood and urine tests, and also EMG test. I should have the results within the next month.

On a side note my PCM's plans for the MEB was to hold off until we get the results from rheumatology and then write the NARSUM based off of that, which would be just a couple of weeks away. However, my DOS is next Monday (June 28th) and I still haven't been placed on med hold, nor can I reenlist at the moment. Given the time crunch I am in the head PEBLO agent is forcing my PCM to write the NARSUM anyways without the rheumatology diagnoses. The reason for this is the PEBLO said that I cannot be placed on med hold without a NARSUM submitted to AFPC. So this week is decision week for me since we should hear back from AFPC by the end of the week.... well she said we might.
