This hasn't happened yet but I was looking into for information.

This is what I am tracking:

Soldier gets out on APFT failure (ch 13).
Gets honorable.
Gets severance pay.
If Soldier gets disability from VA the SM must pay back severance pay.

Does this seem accurate?

Thanks!

Im basically just making sure that if eligible, can you get disability with an honorable ch13 discharge.

Not accurate. I have a Soldier got chaptered for the same reason. He got general discharge and no severance pay.

So I think the keyword there is "general discharge," was there a specific reason the SM didn't get an honorable? My concern is less with severance and more with disability.

He didn't get an honorable because he was chaptered for unsatisfactory performance as per the CO.

Yes. He/she would be entitled to VA compensation, but most likely would have to pay back the severance amount.

A veteran with a general discharge is entitled to VA compensation. See 38 CFR 3.12.
