Medboard Timeline (Walter Reed)

Posting my timeline as well for people who may be on a similar trajectory. I am going through IDES with Walter Reed as my MTF:

MEB/LIMDU Referral 26MAR2024
DES Referral 23APR2024
PEBLO Assigned 23APR2024
MSC Initial Meeting 01MAY2024
MSC VA Claims Sent 01MAY2024
Legal Council Brief 02MAY2024
First VA C&P Exam 10MAY2024
Last VA C&P Exam 15MAY2024
PEBLO Received VA Exams 16JUN2024
PEBLO pushed paperwork up for MEB review 21JUN2024
PEBLO Receives NARSUM Pending

My PEBLO gave me a timeline of 3-4 weeks for my NARSUM to come back as they have a bit of a backlog right now at the MTF.
Might sound like a stupid question but within all that timeline how much longer are you anticipating before you EAS?

I am just now at the MEB Referral phase and I’m getting very anxious about the timelines and planning for afterwards. I’m at Camp Lejeune for reference and there is no forum for Lejeune

Not a stupid question at all. My Projected Rotation Date is October 2024. I am not getting my hopes up for being out by then, but my LIMDU orders were cut as such. My EAOS is March 2025, so as long as I don't bust that timeline, I am happy. Hope you can utilize my timeline as a point of reference of what yours may look like. Cheers.

No that totally understandable and expected to be honest. I heard that Walter Reed was backed up. Let's hope yours doesn't take too long either. 3-4 weeks doesn't sound horrible for the NARSUM if you ask me. I contacted the VA and they already informed me that I'm good to go for their side they're just waiting on the NARSUM and the rating from the DOD. Thanks for posting your timeline it definitely helps
Are you still waiting to hear back on your NARSUM? I am keeping hopes up to get mine back by the end of next week.

Yes unfortunately….I just emailed my PEBLO for an update since the last time I emailed her which was 11 days ago. I’ll pray you get yours soon

  • First week of November (not sure the exact date): MEB referral was sent
  • November 9,2023: PEBLO emailed me about receiving my referral and also sent forms to fill out
  • November 14,2023: Attended IDES briefing and also met with my PEBLO after the IDES briefing
  • November 29,2023: had phone interview with my MSC to fill out forms & submit claims
  • December 1, 2023: My MSC told me he officially submitted my claims to the VA and now I just wait for them to call to schedule appointments
  • December 22, 2023: VA called to schedule VA exams
  • Jan 16-March 7,2024: VA EXAMS… last exam was March 7.
  • Apr 17, 2024: PEBLO called me to come sign my Narsum
  • Apr 19, 2024: Narsum sent to PEB
  • May 16, 2024: case went to the QA (Quality Assurance) stage
  • May 30, 2024: claim closed on VA website
  • May 31, 2024: Called VA to get them to email me my proposed rating.
Now I’m just waiting on the DOD rating and for them to send it back to my PEBLO. Does anyone know how long it’s taking nowadays to get your findings back from the date that your VA claim closes ?
Just wanted to post updates for future viewers:

  • June 25, 2024: received findings
  • June 28, 2024: signed findings and PEBLO sent them off
  • July 09, 2024: received Separation Authorization message/retirement date; which is Aug 30,2024.

So update from my PEBLO, she says the DOD Docs are currently working on finishing up my NARSUM. She says they've completed the mental health portion now they're just finishing up the Physical disabiltiy portion. My MSC and my PEBLO said that I should hear back concerning my NARSUM soon.

Just received my NARSUM results back!!!
Congratulations! That is great news! Hope the NARSUM was favorable and to your liking. Best of luck on the rest of the process. I am still awaiting to hear back on mine. Hoping by the end of the week to hear something.

Appreciate that bro, I’m discussing the results with the lawyer sometime today or tomorrow.

Received my NARSUM today. Meeting with legal on Thursday and hoping to submit the package to PEB by Friday.

Met with legal yesterday and sent off my MEB elections to PEBLO. Should be sent up to PEB today. I was told to expect results from the PEB in 2-3 months.

A note for those interested. While speaking with legal, they mentioned the committees which handle IPEB and FPEBs have adjusted their schedule. Normally they do roughly 12 hearings a week for IPEBs, but due to a large FPEB backlog, they are dropping it down to 6 hearing a week for IPEB in an effort to catch up on the FPEB backlog. Best of luck to all who are in the process.

Great…..‍congrats on moving on to the next step but that’s crazy. Hopefully they’re actually moving quicker than that.

So I just spoke to my PEBLO to confirm whether or not the IPEB have dialed back their amount of boards from 12 to 6 and she said she hasn’t heard anything that would back up that rumor. She also noted that decreasing the amount of boards form 12 to 6 wouldn’t be very efficient of them to do seeing as how there are so many moving parts to the MEB process.

doing 6 instead of 12 would be better? for us or for them?

Are you in the Navy btw? Just asking to see if our processes would be different, I couldn’t imagine so seeing as how we’re both going through our MEB through Walter Reed

Word. I hope that is the case. Source for what I heard was from the DES Attorney (Mr. Lyons). Fingers-crossed for both of us that we hear back sooner rather than later.
