Medboard Timeline (Walter Reed)

Anybody have any luck getting in touch with Jeff lately? I tried calling him twice today but his voice mail said that he was out until June 28th, it's clearly past that day. His voicemail also said if you need an urgent response to to call a different number and I tried that number as well with no ring tone at all.

I talked to him this morning, I’m on the west coast and I call him at 0645 my time so 0945 his time. If it rings once and goes to voicemail call till he answers I think it just means he’s on the phone

Ok awesome thanks! Yea I think I called him at 0900 or so this morning so that would explain why he didn't pick up.

Hoepfully I can get a realistic time line of when I can expect to hear back from the baord. My case was forwarded to the IPEB on August 9th.

Does anybody know if the MEB/PEB supercedes a potential ADSEP/Redesignation due to failure to obtain primary warefare qualification as an officer?

10 days. Keep in mind that we have entirely different separating authorities.
Hey have you gotten your final paycheck from dfas yet ? Trying to see how long it takes after my retirement date to receive it cause ik they hold it to make sure I have no outstanding balances or whatever.

Yeah I have. My final paycheck came in on time, and my sold leave came two weeks later. My per diem from traveling also came in about 2 or 3 weeks after.

IIRC it depends on your branch's sep manual, but for Marines if memory serves, it runs concurrently and the CG makes the ultimate call on what separating authority takes ownership of your separation. Review your sep and retirement manual and see what it says on dual process. Also keep in mind a lot of people think they may be subject to an adsep but their commands don't bother because they're already on the way out... it takes a special kind of hate for someone to bother going through that route when you're months from getting out anyway. Not that it doesn't happen, but most threats that elude to that are... empty at best.

Thanks, I already figured this but of course getting advice and words of wisdom from fellow service members and prior service members always helps.

Any updates on it? Did you get formally served your adsep notification?

Nope, long story short my due date for the qual is late December, 2024 and my case was sent to the PEB on August 9th. Judging by what my PEBLO has told me, the timelines mentioned in this thread and, a call with my disability lawyer I should get an answer back from the PEB on my FIT/UNFIT status by the middle of October. I've explained this to my COC but they of course are planning on the PEB coming back Fit for full duty which is BS, they haven't seen my file and have no idea how jacked up I am. Either way, the end of my obligated service is May 1st, 2025 so even if it comes back fit I'm still getting out in May of next year.

I wouldn't let them worry you. While not majorly important, did your NMA agree that you should be separated?

I got plenty of flak from my command until I got out, and when it was time to do all my seps stuff it was radio silence. My section did a little something for my going away but the platoon at large wanted nothing to do with it, so I feel you man.

I haven't dealt with this personally, would you mind explaining what you mean by qual date?

Yea, unfortunately that seems to be apart of the culture of the military when you're trying to get out. It's almost a little cultish...they're there for you when you're all for the clan, but as soon as you set your sights on moving on and out of the military either through a medical separation or just wanting to move on they turn their back on you quick. Qual date as in "Qualification date" for one of the qualifications that we have to get as junior officers if we're planning on staying in. The problem is my qualification due date is approaching at the same time my results from the PEB are set to be released and of course they're planning for worst case scenario and it coming back as FIT for full duty.

I see. Have you called the VA and bugged them for your proposals?

However I was told that until the PEB comes to a decision there's really no point in calling the VA because they can't propose rating until the DOD has come to a determination on my FIT/UNFIT status and have come up with their ratings.

This is true, but if your claim closed you should be able to bug them to get your results early. If no claim populates on the tracker as closed (check claim HISTORY, closed claims) then the VA hasn't finished their piece.

Did you receive your VA proposed ratings before you got back your DOD decision/ratings?

All mine says is step 5 of 5 “decision letter ready” but of course when I click on it nothing appears because it’s probably waiting on the DOD’s IDES portion to produce their ratings.
