Medical discharge from IRR

Sorry, I tried to do a search, but the keyword IRR is too short for the search bar.

On AF AD 12 years, Reserve 4 years, now just starting IRR because I chose not to drill anymore. I have a 50% rating from VA (not sure if that's relevant). Yes, I could just leave the military now, but I'd rather be separated medically and maybe get some sort of compensation as I would have on AD., especially because I went IRR because I could no longer manage some of my medical issues and drill so far away all the time. I thought I would just take a break, but now I think I'm done. (Plus I'm older than most because I joined older.) I'm physically and mentally beat at this point. Is that even possible to get medically discharged from the IRR? For context, a couple of the issues I was rated for in the VA have gotten progressively worse, to include severe pain at times. I see civilian doctors and specialists exclusively. Is there even a way to send in my updated medical records to anyone (ARPC?), since I'm IRR? If so, would it even matter to them to even think about reviewing them for medical fitness? If so, how would I even start? No one I know personally seems to know the answer.

Hello @Northeast1234567 ,

Recommend you visit with your chain of command about this issue. It is my understanding you would have to be referred to a Medical Evaluation Board (MEB) as one of the first steps.

Your orders transferring you to the USAF IRR should include the command info.

Good luck,
Ron
