My wife asked me a question I couldn't answer so here it is for you.

Is there any circumstances if you do not meet the threshold for retirement that the military can find you Unfit and not pay medical separation pay?

I know if you are AWOL or got hurt and it is Not in LOD.

DFAS has on there site to be eligible you must meet the following
  • be found unfit for duty,
  • have less than 20 years of service,
  • and have a disability rating of less than 30%
But what if your med board condition is rated at 0%?

0 is less than 30% so you still get it. It's a medical separation w severence.

Thank you so much so my complete understanding is the only way to deny medical Sep pay is

1) be found fit for duty
2) LOD not in your favor
3) administrative Sep
4) AWOL or not on active orders (for guard/reservs)

Is that about it?

Administrative separation.

I'm not sure about the other disqualifications. I am at the end of my MEB/PEB so I only know about the 30% or lower part. The other ones make sense though.
