Pearl Harbor Timeline

Turns out just another waiting game here. Signed my findings, 40/90. Now no one can give me my retirement date and I have some folks that are asking when I’m available. Anyone have any insight on how long this takes?
Should, key word being should, be no more than 10 business days for the message to hit OIX. So two weeks tops. I'm not sure how long they pushing dates out anymore though. I have seen both 30 days and 60 days floating around here but retirement dates are supposed to be the last day of the month so I would guess either the end of February or March and you will be free from the bonds of servitude

Thanks. What is OIX and what do I need to get access to it?

It's a command approved method to look at message traffic. Generally takes your XOs approval to get access.

Ok, thanks. Not gonna be much of an option for me
Yeah talk to admin/personnel. Depending on cmd size and structure some or all of the YN/PS will have access in order to do their job. Just swing by and ask them to check and ask how often they check. Someone should help you out.

Just emailed my lawyer and MSC at the same time to ask for a monthly update. MSC said that the VA was done with my ratings and I would hear it all from my peblo once my findings came back from the PEB. Lawyer sent me a picture of VTA with my rating and dollar payment amount. It made me laugh out loud. I really don’t know why it’s supposed to be some big secret, all I can do with the information is plan for the transition. Whatever, quick timeline for the lurkers not far behind us who don’t want to find my big one:

18SEP24: NARSUM signed
30SEP24: package sent to the PEB
07OCT24: found unfit
20DEC24: case closed on VA app
10JAN25: lawyer informs me the VA has proposed 90%, 102 days at the PEB

Just so glad we’re finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Congratulations! My timeliine is right in line with yours, so I should expect early next week.. WOOHOO!!

I re-read what your post said, so you haven't had an official signing yet?

No, only the VA side is done, my lawyer was just willing to share what he could see on VTA. He said I should be signing findings within two weeks.

Gotcha, that tracks with what I've heard.

Does anyone know, if message comes out with retirement date, is that a no later than date? Can I retire earlier?

So that date is the official date of retirement established by the Navy. There are very few exceptions where you can get this date moved earlier and every one of them have to be approved by SECNAV.
However you are eligible for a combined 20 days of job hunting and house hunting leave per MILPERSMAN 1320-220 and DODI 1327.06 so that is one way to "get out" a little earlier. You can also use any terminal leave you may have, but as I stated you are still a Sailor until whatever date your orders say so PLEASE don't do anything dumb in the meantime.
Working in legal I have seen people get there retirement and be 100% and "celebrate" too early and pop a drug test a week before they were out and lost it all

I should note that you are authorized a different amount of PTDY depending on if you are either TDRL/PDRL or medically separated. Here is the verbiage from the MILPERSMAN

4. Time Limits

a. Members stationed in the continental United States(CONUS) may receive up to a total of 10 or 20 days transition PTDY depending on whether they are being

(1) involuntarily separated (10 days) per reference (a),paras. 6c(10) and 6c(11). Up to an additional 30 days accrued leave may be authorized per reference (a), para. 6c(11). The member may be authorized 30 days excess leave without 10 days PTDY.

(2) retired (20 days). The excess leave option is not available for retirees.

b. Members stationed outside of the continental United States (OCONUS) may receive an additional 10 days PTDY depending on whether a round trip will be made or not (up to 20 days involuntary separation and up to 30 days for retirement).

Thanks,
Not looking to celebrate. Next job is better not on terminal and they have been waiting awhile. They also require my clearances, so can’t do anything to put it at risk

Gotchya. Yeah in that case unfortunately its just gonna be the date on your orders then. At least you have an actual date to provide now rather than a "maybe sometime possibly in the next few months when the govt decided to get to it"

Anyone know who at PERS (Navy) deals with the next step after PEB has indexed the case and sent notification to PERS?
