Yeah, I think that's mostly the case if you're <20 years. If you're over, it seems like it's never <45 days. I wonder when the Navy is going to get told to stop forcing people to sell leave back.

Ah that might be it. I didn't make that connection. I doubt it will be any time soon.
I had personally already planned on selling all my leave and just taking the 20 days PTDY. It will make for a nice little bonus check to pad the time before VA kicks in

I actually have a running point paper that I've gotten a couple VERY senior O-6s and an O-7 willing to endorse (after I'm retired) that I'm sending to the entirety of the HASC and SASC about the way that the Navy is forcing people to handle an entitlement while in this process. We'll see what happens from it.

Wow! Right on! I'll be interested to see what happens with it. How amazing will it be if they read your paper on the House floor and schedule a vote to rectify the problem

Knowing the process, I bet it's all behind closed doors and a "hey asshole, fix this" type thing in terms of an instruction or whatever. But, if I can leave the place better than when I found it, it'll be a win.

You are probably right. Still a cool thought though.
Either way the fact that you have that mentality is awesome. Too many guys I know say "Fuck it.. It sucked for me so the future generations need to go through the suck too" and most of the good folks who would make great leaders get drug through the mud and get out to go exceed somewhere else

I can understand that mentality, but I'll be God damned if I'm going to let my anger of the process allow me to fall into inaction.
Not to mention, what are they going to do to me, send me on another deployment after I've already spent 6 years of my life away from homeport, take away my birthday, or unceremoniously kick me out? lol
