Possible Outcomes?

Im looking for some advice on how to proceed with care and possible outcomes….

I’ve got 5 yrs AD

I’ve been seen for neck and back pain after pulling a 300 lb patient and have had injections, used muscle relaxers, OMT in 2022-2023. Started to have severe migraines 2+ times a week, waking up with teeth pain/headaches. I have pain from clenching my jaw and TMJ. Dental made me a mouth guard, which wasn’t super helpful. We started Botox injections and that helped relieve some of the pain but still having migraines 4x a month lasting at least 2 days.

I deployed for 9 months and stopped care. Did my post deployment health survey and the provider said I hit the marks for insomnia. But had no direction to follow up with that.

When I got back, went back on with Botox treatments and was referred to physical therapy. Just completed 12 weeks, with no improvement, of PT/dry needling sessions and have been recommended to get an MRI of neck and shoulder.

Meanwhile I’ve been trying to deal with a ton of other issues. I experienced constant sexual harassment while deployed from those in high places and peers, started the divorce process, and my ex is former mil and has placed many calls to my CoC, my command essentially backed my ex without ever asking me a single question.

(We are going through an incredibly messy divorce and he continues to still insert control over my life in all aspects. Throughout our marriage he was abusive and being separated by deployment gave me the distance I never had to finally leave, which I’m very thankful for.

I started seeing mental health because I don’t feel like I can trust leadership starting back from deployment to now and have had increasing worsening anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, and nightmares. My psych doc focuses mainly on the divorce due to my provider going through a divorce as well. But I don’t think they understand the amount of anxiety I have just trying to make it through everyday. Their advice was to set reminders for me to eat and drink water and go for walks. Which is incredibly frustrating.

I wanted to get some opinions

Have you heard of the Veterans Center known as Vet Center? It is a funded branch of the VA, but fully separated and private from all VA and DoD systems. All your sessions and even the appointments themselves cannot be seen by the VA/DoD systems. Only if you release the information will the VA/DoD know.

They offer various types of counseling and other services with a focus on deployed Veterans even if still serving. I have been going for years while in and after retirement. If there are no convenient locations, they do offer online services.

Keep up that inner strength you have found. You deserve the help you are seeking. Push till you get there. Best of luck.

In addition to @DaveK has said, its all about focusing on your treatment. Make sure you have profiles if needed. Your profile is the first step to being referred to IDES. When you get into IDES make sure to fight for everything that you are entitled to. Most everyone who are in stressful situations have the urge to give up and concur with each thing the process. Its important that if there is something wrong that you appeal. That may mean a rebuttal because there is only 1 condition unfitting on the NARSUM instead of 2 conditions etc.

I know I am getting ahead of myself but I have seen so many Soldiers beat down by the time they start IDES that they just don't care anymore and will not slow down the process by appeals to get the right results.
