Recieved my ratings today from the PEB, now what happens after discharge?

Hello, Just to give a quick run down of my status I am Active Army with 12 years of service. I am in the VA Pilot program and recieved my ratings today from the PEB. My ratings are 70% from the Army and 70% from the VA and will be on TDRL. All conditions are compensated as combat related.

My question is since I will be on TDRL, will I have to do my first physical reevaluation next year in 2011 or is it 12 months from my last Physical Evaluation given to me by the VA for my MEB packet?

My second question is in regards to CRSC, is this actually a (2) dual payment compensation on a monthly basis or would it be the hire of the two? From what I am looking at in my PED and VA board results, all injuries are combat related.

Thanks, and a timeline will come as soon as I get my dates

Hello, your TDRL reevaluation date depends on what you where discharged for. If one of the conditions is PTSD, you will be reevaluated 6 months from your discharge date. If you were placed on TDRL for physical conditions as I was, your reevaluation date will be 1 1/2 years from your discharge date. I believe they only move the reevaluation up to 6 months for certain mental conditions like PTSD.

As for CRSC, since your injuries are combat related you will collect dual payments (from the VA and DOD) ... I'm just not sure how much. Just remember, when placed on TDRL all reevaluation dates are scheduled from the date of your separation.

I'm sure somebody else will chime in to give you more information. Good luck!

Wow, yes one of my conditions is indeed PTSD.

As far as the dual payment that is where I was confussed. I just assumed since both Army and VA gave 70% then I would only recieve one monthly payment of 70% of my base pay non taxed. But others have lately been telling me they think it should be two checks.

So with the dual payment, is this something I must apply for with documents or shall this be automatic payments on my first day of payment?

Thank you for your help

You have to apply for CRSC. If all of your conditions are combat related, I'm sure you will be approved. I'm not sure of the exact process for applying, but I'm sure somebody on here is.

I assume you should receive a good little chunk of change from CRSC because you have 12 years in.

Make sure as soon as you receive your DD-214 from the Army you give a copy to the VA, and your compensation shoud start right off.

Here is a calculator for your CRSC. I took this from the DFAS website.

This will help you get a pretty accurate estimate of your benefit.

Please be sure to apply for CRSC through your branch of service.

Hope you get something from this CRSC program.

Keep us posted!
