With frustrations and lack of information/communication regarding the post-PDBR process for retiring Air Force members I have been pushing the board for more information on the process and who to contact for followup: Here is the direct quote from the board, emailed to me this morning, on how the process works:

"To help you understand how the process works, the role of the PDBR is to review Physical Evaluation Board findings for accuracy and render a recommendation to the military department. Once the recommendation is made, the PDBR has no further role in processing applications. The military department may accept of decline to accept the recommendation of the PDBR. A recommendation to correct a record to disability retirement once accepted is forwarded the SBP office to obtain an SBP election. Once obtained, that is the extent of the SBP office’s knowledge or involvement in processing of the application. Once the SBP election is obtained a Directive is prepared and signed which directs the appropriate offices at the Air Force Personnel Center to correct the military records. Once the Secretary of the Air Force’s designee signs the directive a copy is provided to the individual involved and to the offices at the Air Force Personnel Center responsible for making corrections. The office of the Physical Evaluation Board is required to revoke the separation orders and publish retirement orders. The Retirement office is required to publish a revised DD Form 214. Once those corrections are made a copy the corrected documents are furnished to the applicant, to DFAS and to the Department of Veterans Affairs. Once the applicant receives a copy of the DD Form 214 a retired ID card may be obtained at the nearest ID card facility. Be advised that the offices responsible for making these corrections are currently working a backlog of corrections, in addition to their current workload and it may take up to 30-60 days for the corrective documents to be prepared. Rest assured efforts are being made however, to complete these actions as quickly as possible."

Still dont have contact info yet, but working on it.

I appreciate this post! I feel like 30-60 days is business days is per section of correction though at this rate. :)

Contact info I used to follow-up was AFPC Total Force Service center: 210-565-0102. I did speak to someone who found my paperwork and specifically said her supervisor was moving it to retirements.

Received this morning from AFPC:

The medical board office finished your correction regarding your approval to be retired (PR) on 30 AUG 18, and has passed the case back to the PDBR office for further processing of your case. Once all actions have been completed by all offices within AFPC the PDBR office will provide you a record copy of all documentation via mail. Please direct all further question to the PDBR office.

Back in a loop again... I forwarded this to the PDBR.

Perci75, thank you so so much for the contact info. It's hopefully a step to some answers sooner rather than later.

I spent 50mins on hold with MyPers at 7am PST yesterday; while I was on hold, I submitted a request electronically for assistance. When I actually got a person, they saw my online submission. Today I received this:

"Your case has been forwarded to the office of primary responsibility for review/action.

Thank you,
myPers - Total Force Service Center"

Fingers crossed for us all!

Good! Hopefully you'll hear something soon!

I just heard today (form the PDBR) that my orders were mailed out last Thursday and my new DD214 was mailed out Tuesday, but is already online and I was able to download..

Congrats!!

Where online could I find any info like that for myself? It'd be much appreciated...

Select correspondence/documentation

Select DPRIS

Select Personal File. It will run a query and email you when the docs are ready for you to look at. I would select everything in the Service Computation Group

I wasn't as fortunate as Perci75. My call to AFPC was not successful, however, they did put in a ticket for me. I got a response today saying that AFPC doesn't deal with this and giving me the e-mail address of who to contact. "For current status of your PDBR case please contact the PDBR office at: 210-565-3256 or you can email them at: PDBRPA [email protected]". NOTE: The phone number is useless, a person does not answer and it does not have voicemail. It simply gives you the same e-mail address. I have already seen a response from that e-mail address saying that they have forwarded my message to the appropriate office. We shall see....

Well, I guess it's time to find someone who matters like Perci75 did? Maybe that is the push we are needing? I've emailed that contact and called that number so many times! They screen it for sure. Once they did pick up after I had contacted my local AFB for SBP briefing and she had no idea who I was; she said she would ask. She called me and gave me that same number to call. When I did, low and behold they actually answered.

I would continue to forward the emails you get from AFPC to the board. I find it interesting that according to the email they wrote me in the original post they sure did have a lot of information for me for not being part of the process after a decision?!?

I am honestly not sure what I did to facilitate my process. I do know the person (did not get her name unfortunately) at AFPC seem to be quite helpful and seem to push my paperwork through. I have also sent all my emails to my senator who is on VA sub-comittees. I was about two seconds from filing an IG complaint when I got an email from the board stating my orders and 214 were in the mail.

Hello and congrats on your retirement.

Looks like you found the forum with contact info for the AF. AFPC would be the next step for you to contact regarding your SBP and DD2656. It is really hit-or-miss on who you talk to there and if they can help you. Also try MyPERS online and send an email. One of the other AF guys on here finally got a response from MyPERS stating that the PDBR had never pushed his info to AFPC. He has been waiting months to get any information after he submitted his SBP/DD2656.

I was told last week that my orders were mailed out on Aug 30th and my corrected DD214 was mailed on Sept 4th to my residence. Have yet to receive either via USPS. Emailed the PDBR and they said I needed to wait another 2 weeks.

Who in AFPC do I contact? I was never given any contact email. Is there a certain office I need to talk with?

Call the AFPC total force service center: 210-565-0102 to start. Just follow the prompts to retirements. I would simply mention, " my records have been recently changed, my DD2656/SBP election was submitted 30 days ago and would like to know the status of my retirement."

This is what I did and was able to make some progress, but as you have probably seen on previous posts, it doesn't always work.

The PDBR email address is: [email protected] You can use this, but have also ran into issues with them telling you to contact AFPC.
They usually will tell you to refer to each other.

I would keep track of your correspondence, so if/when you run into issues you have documentation. The AF process can be very daunting and the process needs to be fixed.

MyPERS is a website for AFPC. You can google it and set up an account. I preferred to use them as it is electronic form of communication and I will always have records of the correspondence.

Update:

Went to milconnect yesterday, found orders and DD214 available. Still have received nothing via mail.

Headed to base this morning to get ID card.

Were your orders under that DPRIS section as well? OR is that only for old records? Also, on the main tab to update your info do you have a RET tab now? CONGRATS on getting through this mess!

Yes. It was under the DPRIS section. Make sure to select all. Don’t check just orders. When I did that nothing came up.

They moved me to active duty then were supposed to to move to retired status and got stuck yesterday. I’m at the base now trying to get it taken care of.

Yes. The retired tab showed up as soon as I got my ID. You can also enroll in TriCare. I had to call TriCare, due to issues with the website, but only took a few minutes.
