SAN DIEGO TIMELINE

I don’t think it’s secrecy—just old bureaucracy and processing backlogs. They handle a high volume of cases, and if paperwork is missing or not yet logged, they simply won’t provide updates.
There’s also a lack of coordination between different departments like the VA, PEB, and DFAS, which don’t always communicate well, leaving everyone in the dark.
Also, they seem to follow the motto: 'Until it’s official, it’s not final.' They won’t confirm eligibility or benefits until all documents are received and fully reviewed.
Best practice-keep calling or emailing PERS and ask for a point of contact handling the case.
it was a turn of phrase because that's what it feels like lol. My point being is that we should have the ability to track our progress far easier than what we have to do now. There is no single point we can really go to. All of the IDES assigned people are hit or miss. For example, Navy has LIMDU smart. Why can't that be used for the entire process (not just meb) as a single point for updates? Its very easy to automate with a bit of code and feeding information from systems to one point. That's all I'm saying. I know, easier said than done but it something that should be looked into.

I agree with this. There’s no transparency at all. I wish someone involved in this process put themselves in our shoes so they could understand how frustrating it is to be given vague answers.

Agree! It’s crazy how something so simple, like having everything in one place, could make such a big difference. It would save so much time for everyone and make things way less confusing for people going through the process. I don’t know why something like that hasn’t been done yet—especially with all the tech we have today. It’s something the system should look into. It’d make everything smoother and give people more clarity instead of those vague answers that add to the frustration of waiting.
