Smooth transition

I got Medically retired 3 months ago. 100% P&T. MEB took about 18 months all together. Ask me anything. So far the transition hasnt been bad at all. The VA payments and medical insurance got set up and that took about 2 months all together. My biggest recommendation is save as much money as you can before getting out. The longer IDES takes the more you save before getting out. Even at 100% rating its hard to make ends meet if you get out with nothing but your benefits.

Also, did you ever review your C&P exam results? Did you do so while still on duty or afterwards?

I reviewed my exams the moment i got my hands on them. You should review every document twicw before signing it off to PEB. Once its in PEB and you notice something its way harder and longer to make changes.

Here is a rough timeline:

MEB recommendation June2023
AMRO SEP 2023
IRILO JAN 2024
MEB initiated FEB 2024
Claimes filed MARCH 2024
First C&P Exam August 10 2024(yeah almost 5 fucking months)
Last C&P exam August 28 2024
case sent to PEB SEP28th 2024
Ratings came back DEC 8th 2024 (100% p&t VA, 40% DOD
Orders droped on DEC20th ( I had 2 weeks during xmas and new years to outprocess and retire from overseas)
retirement date jan 29th.
Made it happen somehow and was home on Jan 7th with 3 weeks of terminal leave.

Sorry I dont have exact dates but i was so happy to be done with it i forgot a lot of the dates and stuff.

I dont have access to my exam results. Neither my PEBLO or MSC will hand them over. Im going to wait till my last exam is sent to VA and see if I can FOIA everything fast enough to review before signing anything. TRICARE online is no longer a thing, and exams are not posted in MHSGenesis. I heard maybe VSO's would hand them over. I might have to reach out to one.

Thanks for the details!

I am 100% positive you have to review them before siging anything and sending it off to the IPEB. So if you havent seen your exams yet because of the websites dont worry, your PEBLO will get them, notify you and have you review it all before signing. Just make sure to get help from the PEBLO or the ODC if you need clarification on anything at all. This process is stressfull and grueling but let me take some weight off your shoulders. The only thing you can do is show up to your exams and wait till the peblo calls you. For now the best thing to do is prepare for civilian life. Weather is picking a place to live or school or a job, make sure you are focusing on that more than the MEB because the MEB is out of your hands for the most part. 98% of cases that reach the PEB get medically seperated or medically retired. You're getting out one way or another.

Good luck!

My PEBLO had me sign 618 and send to IPEB but I haven't seen any exam results. And When I email her and ask, she said "you will get an email when everything is done" So I am not sure if the review the exam was suppose to be before signing 618 or after te IPEB
