Good Evening Everyone,
I have a friend who was placed on TDRL. He later felt better/recovered and requested to be taken off TDRL so he could pursue Air National Guard. He was Honorably Discharged after choosing to not reenter active duty. Unfortunately he is now sick again, unable to enter National Guard and reliant on VA medical care. He is unable to receive appropriate care for his condition within VA system so looking at pursuing any avenues to reestablish Tricare insurance; ie possible have his discharged changed and reinstated to TDRL.

Neither of us can think of anyway he can pursue this. We are ready to chalk it up as a loss.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Luke

Sorry but once he chose to be honorably discharged you can't retroactively be placed back on tdrl.

It wouldn't be easy, but the most likely route would be through the Board for Correction of Military Records /Board for Correction of Naval Records (BCMR/BCNR).

Thanks Michigan and Jason,
I wasn't sure if it was something worth wasting time on, but if ultimately we can have his case heard at the BCNR it's worth a shot. There is nothing to lose for him at this point.

Thanks again,
Luke

def worth a shot. Exhaust all means possible. Please keep us up to date. We all learn from each other
