I was activated for Operation enduring freedom on March 2003 as an AF reservist. After driving from Wisconsin to Nellis AFB. 2 weeks later i was seen at the Emergency room for a chronic pain on my right side. The MRI showed a large mass by my right lung. I was given the option to go home and have a biopsy done to see what the mass was. I was concerned it might be cancerous so I chose to go home to be around wife and family. The AF Reserves EPTS me . Not knowing anything about disability retirement, and wanting to find out what i had, i was released from Nellis before 30 days in-service. I have filed to the Af board and currently still waiting on decision . My question is "How can they make a determination of epts when they didn't know what i had". The VA rates a substernal thyroid goiter at 30% then any residual effects after surgery. During my
Surgery they severed my right phrenic nerve causing shortness of breath during exertion.
