I’m in a sticky situation…long story short I am on my 2nd TLD memo. They are spread out and separated by about 7 months, both for multiple issues stimming from Auto immune, PTSD and migraines. My current TLD doesn’t expire until April 2026 and would leave me at 19.4 years active. As of now my health issues are not improving and some worsening, which leads me to believe that a Med Board next year is likely to be initiated. I am just panicking because I’ve dedicated so much time to the service.
With that being said I have questions:
How long does a med board take from start to finish? (I want to do everything to reach 20)
I’ve already submitted my retirement request and awaiting approval, would this affect it?
Are there any programs to safeguard a member that is close to their 20? I.e. wounded warrior or something similar.
Is there anything else I should be looking into?
