Howdy,

Does any one have any advise on whether or not to let their supervisors know they have PTSD? Does it help or hurt the process? I've been trying to hide its effects on my performance by passing it off on caring for sick kids/being tired, extra work while spouse down for surgery, etc. Or, when the MEB process starts does the Med group automatically tell your supervisory what is going on with you medically?

If you desire retirement, then it would benefit you to have documentation or communication that it is hurting your ability to perform your job.

I told my squadron commander I was having some significant mental health issues a few months prior to being diagnosed, when I was still being seen by behavioral health

If your symptoms will likely to an MEB, don't let a letter from the PEBLO be the first time your commander knows what is going on in your life. Most commanders don't like surprises.
