Hello to all who see this!

Alright so,

VA website/app shows my claim was “Complete” May 22nd. I went through PEB active duty USMC, medically retired July 30th 2024.

On the app/website it’s showing my claim is complete, decision letter was mailed to me/can view it online. Never did I receive anything in the mail, nor can I view it online.

I called the VA today and they said my case, on August 20th, 2024, it hit the final review stage.

Did anyone else have any experience like this while getting medically separated? No dates are accurate, the VA does not reflect accurate stages or dates, nor does it seem like it was a smooth process.

Very normal. VA has to review and take your prosed ratings. I never checked the website or app. They will change things back and forth because the VA opens a new claim to convert all of your proposed ratings into a claim with final ones. It takes about 8 weeks to get your award letter.

So for me it was smooth because I didn't expect it to go quickly. Save up 2 months of income because that is usually how long it takes before you get VA pay.

Hello @LCPLSchmuckatelli ,

Perhaps associated:

I don’t know if the site you spoke of was eBenefits, but two VA raters who I know through the Internet have repeatedly stated that what one sees on eBenefits is not in “real time” and is not the result of an update by human beings. It is a computer interpretation what is developed in other systems rather than direct human updating.

If the system you used was not eBenefits, it still might have the same features.

Good luck,
Ron

Hi same boat here. Medically retired June 27, 2024. I’m on my 61st day waiting and my claim is still on step 6. Hang in there brother we have to wait.

What is step 6? How do you know this? How many steps are there?

they have 8 steps. My claim was opened june 28 since i retired june 27, July 29 when they posted it on VA app for you to see where you at. Then they move me to step 6 aug 21. I thought it would be a 1 month process but damn this is taking too long.
