Ramstein Timeline

Awesome! Must be nice to be close to done with it all. It could be close to a year before I even get in for exams because of Covid and how slow the VA is taking patients for C&P exams. I’ll be watching to see what happens in the end with you. Thanks for replying.
I honestly think I’ll hit the year mark (14 January 2021) before I’m really done. Overall, yes, it does feel nice to be close to being done. My original DOS of 28Dec2020 has generated in the system and my unit is still tapping me for trivial things that are irritating me, so I’m ready to get it over with. Have you tried scheduling your appointments yourself meaning have you called to give them an inadvertent nudge?

I have not tried making appointments myself. My PEBLO seemed pretty clear that “they will call me”. Now that you say it, I probably should do that just to get the ball rolling. My DOS is 14Dec20 so I am going to have to extend more than likely to get through this process. It’s been crazy with all this Covid shananigans going on.

I called the VA and kindly asked my status and they said “yes, we assigned to VES but they are backed up” and from there I took it into my own hands by calling VES and kindly asking if they needed anything from me to get the ball rolling. It won’t hurt. If I hadn’t already lost out on so much and um ready to get out, I would’ve just sat on my hands with the process.

Very smart. I guess I’m not to much in a hurry, as I planned initially to make it a career. I’m coming up on the 10 year anniversary so what’s another 10? I’m just hoping for the best in the end. More nervous about the outcome than anything on how they decide to rate this. Sense our conditions are practically the same I’m looking forward to what your outcome is.

My PEBLO and VA MSC told me that QTC would contact me for exams. I waited ~3 months--making sure to check in every 1-2 weeks to ask about a status update--before calling QTC myself. A five-minute call later and I had all appointments scheduled to take place within the next 1.5 weeks following that phone call.

Bottom line: none of them will do it for you. If you're not proactive during this process, you'll be working on other peoples' schedules and be prioritized accordingly. This works if you're trying to slow roll it to hit 20, but if you want to get it done, I highly recommend calling and just saying "Hi, I need to schedule my exams."

Just an update. I expect *crosses fingers* that I should know my outcome near the end of the month/early November.

Referred Condition: Urticaria
9 Years of Service, USAF OCONUS

7 - 10 January: RILO submitted sometime between those days
13 January: MEB/IDES enrollment notification
2 March: CC Impact Statement signed and returned to PEBLO
3 March: VA Claim moved to Evidence gathering, review and decision
4 March: VA closed the notice for Request 1.
4 March: All exams issued for dates ranging between 17 March and 25 March
25 March: Audio C&P
20 April: Virtual Mental Health C&P
Cancellations and rescheduling occurred somewhere in here
25 Aug: Gen Med C&P
27 Aug: Follow Up Appt at VA's request

2 Sep: Second CC Impact Statement signed and sent back to PEBLO since it was over 6 months old
9 Sep: PFT
10 Sep: Second Follow Up C&P Appt at VA's request
22 Sep: All C&P Exams uploaded into TRICARE ONLINE
23 Sep: PEBLO acknowledges receipt of C&P Exams
29 Sep: Notification that NARSUM Addendum was complete and that my case was being referred to IPEB. Instructed to report to MDG before 1400 on 30 Sep
30 Sep: Requested IMR (
I felt my anaphylaxis should've been added as an unfitting condition as well as it fully documented in my medical records as an additional diagnosis secondary to my idiopathic urticaria)
2 Oct: Notified that reviewing physician for IMR did not see a need for changes (he called me personally, which I appreciated); I verbally told PEBLO I was not rebutting and she instructed me to just come in on Monday (I was trying to get in a visit before close of biz as it was a Friday); thought about it over the weekend
5 Oct: Drafted Letter of Exception and gave it to PEBLOs to incorporate into pkg/Informed by PEBLOs that case would be sent up today (doubt it)

I decided to submit the Letter of Exception (also known as rebuttal) to give a personal side of the past seven years of this condition and to gently state my intended outcome. I did this in hopes that it will get resolved the first time so that I can bypass any future appeals. My current DEROS and DOS are aligned at 28 December 2020. I was hoping to be out of here by end of month, but I'm not holding my breath. At this point, even though I have job offers on the table, I'm not going to rush anything else and I'll just let it play out.

Good to see yours is moving. I'm still waiting on a second CC impact later as mine also expired. PEBLO contacted my chain on 9 Aug, then again on 21 Aug, and they're still dragging their feet. VA is all done and ratings are already back, so I'm guessing the IPEB portion should be really quick.

Yes, yes. I'm hoping the IPEB is quick since my VA portion is already done as well. I hope your chain responds quickly. My Shirt doesn't play around about things like this. I was on pass that day and he tracked me down so that he could get it back to the MDG.

Oh wow, awesome that you have a Shirt willing to run things down like that. I'm about ready to escalate here soon, if they don't have it back for my sign this week. It really shouldn't take two months, especially when one already exists.

14 Oct: AF 356 sent to MTF
15 Oct: Notified of 60 % DoD / 90% Proposed VA

I'm happy. This is what I wanted. I went to the Office of Disability Counsel just because my PEBLO suggested it, but I am going to concur with everything. I plan to stick around the board for whatever assistance I can provide, but life got busy real quick since the process will now move fast. Just @ my username so that I can see the notifications in my email. I will be sure to provide the additional updates.

Congrats! Your ratings and everything you went through make me very optimistic for my situation. Hopefully the rest is easy going for you and good luck!

I had a few hiccups, otherwise I would’ve had my orders weeks ago.

9 Nov: orders received; 31 Jan 2021 retirement date, 30 days PTDY, 35 days of terminal leave

I'm still around. I retired on 1 February. I only see notifications from certain posts that I watch, so the easiest way to get ahold of me is send a message since I get email notifications. I want to continue to share any information that I have with those coming behind me in this process.

How long did it take you to get through the IPEB portion? I was Command directed into the LDES program so I'm just waiting to hear back from AFPC. 618 sent up 22 Feb I believe.

I went IDES, so your turnaround will be shorter. Oct 5 sent up I believe and came back 10 days later

Hi all. I’m still around here and there. Don’t be afraid to hit me up if you have questions. If you tag my name, the notifications come through my email.

@jessicad231 thanks for informing us of your process and continuing to stick around for questions.

When your case was sent up to the board did you only get one notification from mypers? I ask because I got two notifications that were 9 days apart. The second email was the original notification that my package had been received. The second email had the original date of 21 April as well which is when it was received. I still haven’t received anything besides that and my PEBLO says she doesn’t know anything and will let me know once she receives my package back. It makes me wonder if my process started over or did I receive the same initial notification because they sent my package over to the VA? I’m so lost, my PEBLO isn’t helpful, and just want it to be over with already. It’s frustrating waiting in the dark.

I also got a notification that my decision had been sent back to the MTF as well.

Sorry, I don’t think I was very clear with my rambling in my post. I received a duplicate email with the same message of the IPEB has received your case. The message was 9 days apart so I figured I was good until I realized it was the same original message. I have not received anything that says my package is complete. It has now been 14 days since my package was received.

I called AFPC this morning and they told me that a decision has not been made and my case is still being processed. They are apparently behind due to an influx of EFMP cases. Also the separations section is behind as well so orders are taking longer to receive.
