Haha yeah, thatd be great. but hey, we are all in purgatory here in the system. Nobody will give anybody a straight answer because there ARE no answers, except...time, apparently. So...i guess...its whatever. lol

I'm on day 139. Called my MSC today and she knows nothing. I've been lucky enough that my situation didn't require months of therapy to try and fix the problem or put me in pain management. I was admitted into the hospital with a pulmonary embolism (blood clots) in my lungs for the second time in two years and my DR told me in June I'd be on blood thinners for the rest of my life and I was no longer able to stay in the army. I was previously on the blood thinners for a year. I was utterly devastated. I had just gone to the E-6 board and was headed to Korea the next month. It took a few months for the MEB to actually start. I was diagnosed with a TBI while serving in Iraq back in 2009 and I was able to stay in the Army but a small blood clot has changed my life forever. Something as simple as a fall from my bike could cause a small brain bleed and I could die. But it could be worse that IED back in Iraq could have killed me and my daughter and husband would have to deal with the messed up VA benefits system. I prefer my husband and daughter live their life as normal as possible until this situation is over.

I wish everyone luck in either getting your ratings soon or moving on to new endeavours

What did finance tell you when you cleared them?

Don't call for 45 business days, my friend and I thought it was an interesting way to phrase it. Im guessing they are as backed up as anyone on the related subjects, just with the 72 hour turn around rule applied to ETS'ing. :)

has anyone tried to get in contact with Ft Hood Transition... i swear someone is playing a joke on me.
i called them then they tell me to call a different number that doesn't work and now i cant get back trough to transitions. >.<

I did the IRIS thing, and waited for a reply. This is what they had to say.

Dear Mr. Crandell:

This is in response to your inquiry to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) dated April 12, 2013.

Thank you for your service to our country.

As we researched your records, we determined you currently have a claim in process under the Disability Evaluation System (DES). We received your claim on November 9, 2012, for multiple conditions. Once you complete your PEB hearing, the PEB board will make a determination as to whether or not you are fit for duty, or should be medically discharged due to your disabilities. If you are medically discharged, VA will be notified, and we will begin the process of completing your claim beginning one day after your date of discharge. Once your DD-214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, is received, we will review the claim to make sure we have everything we need, and to determine if an adjustment to your final disability rating is required. If we determine additional information is needed, we will contact you. If we have everything we need, we will prepare a decision on your claim.

Thank you for contacting us. If you have questions or need additional help with the information in our reply, please respond to this message or see our other contact information below.

Sincerely yours,

Here is my timeline:

I did that and had a similiar outcome. They even said according to their records I was discharged from the Army a few years ago. I don't think the person who receives the inquiry knows anymore than say.. Ebenefits would show us. It appears to be another useless tool that just takes up time.

I just called the Seattle DAV rep. I actually have useful information now that I can use thank you Sicotic for recommending calling the Seattle office. I found out that nothing has been done with my case since Feb 23. or at least no one at the VA has added anything to my notes since then. I also tried the IRIS thing here is the outcome to that one. So according to this I need to send them my DD 214 before they will give me my proposed ratings. I wonder how this works?

Dear Mr. Wagner:

This is in response to your inquiry to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) dated March 25, 2013.

We are grateful for your service to our country.

Our systems show, we received your Disability Evaluation System (DES) claim on December 3, 2012, at the Seattle Regional Office for multiple contentions. Your claim is open and in the Development Phase. This phase is where we obtain evidence to support your claim. As of December 20, 2012, and January 22, 2013, we received your examination reports and they are in your file to be reviewed.

Once we complete all required actions, we will review your claim to ensure we have everything we need to make a proposed decision. If we determine we need additional information, we will contact you.

Please submit a certified copy of your DD-214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, once you receive it to the regional office and we will then review the claim to make sure we have everything we need to make a proposed decision. If we determine additional information is needed, we will contact you.

Servicemembers actively participating in the DES program should generally contact their Military Services Coordinator who accepted your claim for specific questions regarding your claim, or to your Physical Evaluation Board Liaison Officer (PEBLO), the Department of Defense liaison for this process.

Thank you for contacting us. If you have questions or need additional help with the information in our reply, please respond to this message or see our other contact information below.

Sincerely yours,

C. Boyd

I had this response about a week before my ratings.

Doing a IRIS is the same as calling the 1800#, they just look more into the note provided by the rater

Yes, signed initial paperwork, accepting unfit status. Now awaiting prelim. ratings. Have no ideal how long that should take.

I absolutely echo this. I'll bring up again what I've said in the past - MSC, DAV, whoever, but someone with more power than you with direct connections to the VA needs to pry into your (speaking to everyone on here without ratings) case for the answers. This is exactly what happens - things slip through the cracks, miscommunication happens, or whatever the case may be files take forever. Perhaps such a wait is warranted given the complexity of the claim(s), however we can't know for sure on our own as we are blinded by the abstraction between us (you and your PEBLO) and the VA. Having someone there to represent your best interests and pull some weight around if needs be is essential. Many of them have some influence or at least connections with some leadership type folks. This helps to give us peace of mind that things should move more quickly than they did in the past - prior to receiving a DAV representative.

Sicotic got answers within 2 weeks after contacting DAV. Similarly, I got my answers just over 2 weeks later after contacting DAV and having a representative investigate my case.
Bad part is here @ JBLM, the DAV and MSC both say "you have to be patient and wait, and ride this out and take advantage of the current benefits." What sucks is when my kids are across the country from me, and ask everyday when I'm coming home cause they wanna see me, and my oldest wants me at his games.
