    Meniere's Disease (just started MEB)

Here is the section of the VASRD that explains evaluation of hearing impairment. If you have the numbers from your hearing test, it should be pretty easy to follow. Remember, the VA will rate your Meniere's either based on the frequency of vertigo attacks (under code 6205) or separately...

possibly a dumb question about moving

I also had my stuff in storage and took more than a year (waiting on the VA to finish my rating). I asked for an extension and was given up to another year. Keep in mind, the cost for that extra time will come out of your pocket, although it's at the government rate. Also it does go to a central...

    Hearing test?

Yes you can, my hearing alone is rated at 80%. S4.85 of the VASRD deals specifically with hearing loss and how it is rated. It can seem a little confusing but if you have the numbers from your hearing test, you can use the charts there to accurately calculate what your percentage should be.

    Selecting a retirement date.

I did this a few years ago when I got out. My family was overseas and wife was pregnant, waiting any longer and she wouldn't be able to fly back to the states. So I requested something like 20 days out, and got approved pretty fast. So yeah, it's possible but they might want a good reason.

Picture of a typical VA rating center

Or this one here of the Roanoke VARO, Sep 2012. And I think this is the article Jeep Freak was referring to

Good luck Amy, hope it's not too much longer for you. I was legacy too and they took 18 months. My twins boys are two years old now and still have not been added. That picture is sad, even sadder is that it's almost believable. If anyone wants to see what it really looks like try here. That...

    SSDI spouse and child benefit

Here's another way to view it. I receive $1117 a month SSDI for just me. When my kids were added I was told my family max is 1675. So I get $1117 and $558 goes to my 3 children, split evenly is $186 each. Family Cap: 1675 My benefit: -1117 Family Benefit: 558 Your family cap is determined by...

Retirement ID not projected into DEERS

Hope it works out for you soon. It sucks driving 200 miles for no reason. Although there might be a RAPIDS site closer than you think. You don't have to go to an actual base/post, and you don't even have to go to your branch of the military, anyone can do it. You can use this site to find the...

Retirement ID not projected into DEERS

You tried to get your retiree ID the same day you were placed on TDRL? It's possible that your info just didn't transfer over yet. I'd give it a few days and try again.

    VA C&P Hearing Test

During my test I was told to press it when I heard the beep (it's pretty hard to tell the difference when you have tinnitus too). With the words, I was told to repeat what I heard or thought I heard. After the tech came in the booth twice to make sure all the cables were actually plugged in she...

Should I appeal SSDI date of onset?

Thanks nwlivewire! I'm sure being in a WTU helped your process, but it's good to know that they actually do pay some people back that far. Using an online calculator I figured they would owe me over $20,000 if they had used the date I gave them. I'm still debating with myself whether I should...

Should I appeal SSDI date of onset?

I'm looking for some advice here. After the VA finally rated me and awarded me IU (09/2012), I decided to file for SSDI. So I filed back in 10/2012 and was just told that I was approved. The only thing was that they decided that my date of onset was 05/2012. When I applied I gave them the date I...

Question about 10 Point Preference for Veterans

If you fill out the SF15 correctly, you should only need to provide documentation A and C (listed on the back). "A" proves you served honorably, and "C" is to prove you have a compensable service-connected disability. Example number 3 says: I applied for a job with only an SF15 and my...

    Retirement Certificate

When I signed agreeing to the decision of the IPEB, there was a check box asking if I wanted one and a cert of appreciation for my spouse. If you don't see something like this, I would contact your case manager (or your Navy equivalent point of contact throughout the TDRL eval process). About...
