Still awaiting PEB findings (Jacksonville, FL)

Does anyone have any info or connections to help with updated PEB timelines? My PEBLO has not been very informative the past several months that I've been waiting to receive my PEB findings. Most recent update from him was on 13JAN26 saying that he "can't gauge how fast or slow the PEB cases are moving, but that after checking the system, I have an unfit for duty finding entered". So that's something. It sucks waiting as we all know, but any information or encouragement will help. With my case being submitted a week before the shutdown last fall, and still waiting on findings now before another potential shutdown happening on 01FEB, I understand my case may just be on backlog due to the complexity of it, all the VA claims I submitted, as well as the shutdown, but I feel like my anxiety will skyrocket if I have to wait through another government shutdown.

My timeline is below:

# of days waiting in PEB phase: 122 as of 23JAN2026

24APR2025- Referred to MEB after being in a LIMDU status for several months (initially referred to LIMDU due to long-term left ankle injury/chronic pain after years of physical therapy and two surgeries rendering me incapable of performing my job duties as an AM)

18JUN2025- Approved for DES
26JUN2025- Accepted to MEB/IDES officially/Had initial appointment with PEBLO
01JUL2025- Initial meeting with IDES lawyers
07JUL2025- DES enrollment signed
28JUL-31JUL2025- VA C&P Exams
22AUG2025- Filled out NMA
26AUG2025- VA Exam completion date/Received DBQ for all VA claimed conditions/diagnosis
22SEP2025- Signed NMA submitted
23SEP2025- Officially referred to PEB/Submitted personal impact statement/Convening Authority Certification submitted
25NOV2025- Received phone call from Leidos QTC Health Services with a follow up question regarding previous C&P exams
16DEC2025- Emailed PEBLO inquiring about a PEB timeline update since I have NOT heard from him at all since my case was sent to PEB on 23SEP2025; was told that there is a large backlog for PEB cases and that it will be several weeks before the PEBLOs can figure out a timeline.
12JAN2026- Emailed my assigned IDES lawyer about a timeline update since I have not heard anything from my PEBLO
13JAN2026- Received email from my PEBLO saying that he still doesn't know a timeline due to the PEB system not showing enough output to gauge the speed. He did tell me that I do have an "unfit for duty" finding entered in the system and that it's just a matter of time before the PEB admin section provides him the official findings.
13JAN2026- Called Leidos QTC Health Services because I received a letter that I may need a C&P exam scheduled based on a recent claim (I was told by my PEBLO that it is not uncommon for additional VA exams to be scheduled after the initial IDES VA C&P exams are complete due to the VA rating official seeing other potential service-connected conditions). All Leidos wanted was to ask a question regarding my previous C&P exams (the same question that was already asked on 25NOV2025). They didn't need any further documentation or to schedule further appointments.

Where is your VA claim sitting?

Where is your VA claim sitting?
I just got word today from AskVA that they don't have an updated proposed rating for me. Apparently they had a proposed rating back at the end of September before a benefit estimate letter was sent to my PEBLO. So now this updated proposed rating is still being processed. That's all they told me

I also can't see any of the claim steps or anything on the VA website. I know some people can see what steps they're on or if their case is open or closed. But I can't see anything. I'm just having to go off the limited information I'm getting from my PEBLO and through questions to the AskVA website.

Any movement with your case?

Not yet :l I haven't heard anything from my PEBLO since 13JAN26. I have talked to a couple people I work with who have gotten phone calls from their PEBLOs to come in and sign their findings. And both of those people had their cases submitted to PEB either before mine or a little after. So hopefully I will hear back from my PEBLO soon.

I have been fighting to get any info from the Jacksonville PEBLO. I have resorted to just going into the office and demanding information. Zero returned phone calls/voicemails for over two months so I don't give them the opportunity to disappoint anymore. Last time I went in my VA claim had been closed two weeks prior and nothing was done. He claimed he didn't have my CO letter, which he did. Then he said he didn't have my SMC, he did. It's sad at the treatment from that office, but if you are stern enough you will get what you need. I found out I was informal 100% and then got my file pushed to PEB. Now, I am trying to get any information from the Vocational Rehab office and so far it's been a week of no return emails or voicemails. I know what it is, it is all reprisal from a formal complaint I filed due to JAX and Kings Bay denying servicemembers medboards based on incorrect interpretation of the instructions. Enough people got embarrassed that I am effectively blackballed everywhere when it comes to medical/retirement. Who is your PEBLO if you dont mind me asking?

This shit is so unacceptable and unfortunately happening everywhere in in Hawaii and get the same treatment my case has been in the PEB phase since September about to hit the one year mark this month since this all started, all I’m waiting on are findings as well

I believe it, I had a bad injury and was told to go ahead and submit for retirement since I was never going to be fit for duty. I was immediately told I wasn't eligible for a medical board because I was over 20 years and had submitted for retirement. I hit the 18-month window the same time I was put LIMDU (LDO). Once I figured out they were being lazy I asked for a medical board and they said I already had an approved "fleet reserve" and the MILPERSMAN stated I cannot be forwarded for medboard. Obviously, I don't fall under the fleet reserve as an officer AND it was a half-truth that all senior enlisted personnel should read up on, you can't be forwarded to medboard WITHOUT prior approval from PERS. I had to file a formal complaint against KB and the Senior Medical Officers at PERS because they were ignorant to the actual instructions. It got high enough that everyone got told they were idiots, proven that KB was denying servicemembers medical boards they were due to get. It was a nightmare and since then it's been difficult to get any traction without being the bad guy. Hopefully they start processing claims faster because after 21 plus years of service I no longer feel the pride in the uniform I had for over 20 years. I won't even be doing a retirement ceremony with the way I was treated on the way out. Sorry to vent, hope we all get our answers soon!

No need to apologize I totally understand the feeling I’m sorry they’re putting you through the grinder it will end one day and I hope we all learn from this experience and can heal and move on
