Fort Drum timeline

I haven’t seen many fort drum timelines, so I’ll be posting mine for anyone else going through the process here.

I won’t go through everything leading up to the start of my med board because I initially turned down a p3 in favor of a p2 so that I could go on a deployment. After said deployment worsened my condition, I made an appointment with my PCM to discuss revising my med board option.

September 24- PCM determined MRDP
September 25- first contact with nurse case manager
September 26- ortho determined MRDP
October 15- NCM briefing to MEB physician
October 15- accepted into IDES / P3 profile generated

Currently waiting for second signature on my P3 profile. NCM said I should have received a call from IDES in 24-48 hours after my P3 profile was created, but after reading other threads it looks like I should receive that call after I get the second signature.

If anyone is familiar with fort drum timelines, can you please reply with your timeline or experiences so I can get a better idea of what to expect. I’ll continue to update as I move along my process.

FWIW I think it prudent to always submit a NARSUM appeal when you have things you disagree with. It peserves the record for a formal and other appeal options.

I agree. I’m well over a month since I’ve gotten my initial NARSUM, but I want it on record I disagree with the meb findings and it did give me time to gather additional evidence.

Update #5

December 29 - NARSUM received
January 5 - legal review/ IMR submitted
January 8 - IMR returned/ NARSUM appeal requested
February 2 - NARSUM appeal submitted
February 4 - final NARSUM returned and sent to PEB

Jan 5 - legal review/IMR submitted: that was a request for an IMR?
January 8 when the 'IMR Returned/NARSUM appeal requested': I assume they denied the IMR, and maybe (hopefully!) made some edits to your NARSUM, is that correct?

I ask because I am at the same point in my process where I submitted a request for an IMR, it was denied, some changes to my NARSUM, but they did not add any unfitting conditions to the 3947. I am in the process of drafting a rebuttal to the updated NARSUM.

I hope your wait is not too long between now and hearing back on the IPEB.

I requested an IMR the day I got my NARSUM on Dec 29, I had to wait to meet with the meb attorney on Jan 5. We got the IMR memo written and submitted the same day.

On Jan 8 I got my IMR results back with a new NARSUM. There were some edits made to some conditions and like 2 (fit) conditions added as well. The IMR wasn’t denied, fortunately drum just has a very fast turnaround time.

For my last NARSUM appeal I did have one condition added as unfitting in addition to my original referred condition.

No DA199 just yet, the VA has requested a records review on 2 minor conditions. So waiting for that to be completed first.

Superpw (or anyone) - for the last NARSUM update, did your PEBLO tell you to check the box 'Concur' with the Updated NARSUM? Or were you able to check 27b - merely acknowledging that you received the NARSUM and had time to review it?

What are you referring to? DA 3947? Regardless, you might want to talk to legal.

Yes, sorry, the DA 3947 is what I was referring to.
Weekends are long days as legal is not in their office and since this happened right at COB on Friday, I figured I'd reach out to the community to get their insight/experience.

Hi are you sure about block 27B? Block 27 covers final service member action. The DA 3947 form instructions state, "Block 27.b. SIGNATURE Service Member applies signature verifying they have read and understood Block 27."

Yes, I originally requested an IMR (blocks 18 & 19) then block 23 where I do not concur and submitted a rebuttal, they updated the 3947 but not all of what I had requested (which is fine), but then block 27 is Final Service Member Review Action, indicating that I have reviewed the approval authority's decision - that is not a concurrence, which is what I had originally marked, but the PEBLO tried to tell me to sign in block 18 & 19 on the updated 3947 indicating that I concur with the updated 3947, which I do not.

of course, I'll discuss with Legal on Monday but being impatient with this process, I figured I'd spot check my PEBLO with others have gone through the process.
