Commander refusing to give LOD/National Guard State Active Duty/T32

Newest update, I requested his medical records, and he screened positive for PTSD at the PHA following the riots. No one mentioned it to him, and they didnt even ask him all the questions required. That information would have been good to know when we ended up at the psychiatrist 6 months later...

Unspecified, Bipolar Disorder: Timeline & Findings

Did something happen to you to cause the mental breakdown? Ive been doing a lot of reading and researching since my husband was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder (he was 25 when it happened) and discharged. There was a stressful event months before his breakdown. A year later, he was diagnosed...

Commander refusing to give LOD/National Guard State Active Duty/T32

Small update…We got a call from a KY policy specialist (military affairs, I believe) and she asked us if my husband would be willing to come to Frankfort to testify in front of legislation regarding the law that has prevented him from getting treatment for the PTSD. We will definitely be going...

Commander refusing to give LOD/National Guard State Active Duty/T32

You’re absolutley correct. He joined at 17, and was swayed away from AD to join the guard. He wanted to be deployed. That’s the heartbreaking part for him.

Commander refusing to give LOD/National Guard State Active Duty/T32

The congressional inquiry is back. Just as I figured, nada… ”Upon investigating your inquiry, the following information was determined by our personnel directorate: Since the Service Member was on State Active Duty (SAD), the PTSD claim cannot be worked through military medical actions such as...

Commander refusing to give LOD/National Guard State Active Duty/T32

Thank you! At this point, I feel so lost. From day one, we were told no LOD/incapacitation pay/etc for state active duty, then this past week, Ky Dept of VA tells us a LOD is absolutely the process. Like, who the heck do I fight?! LOL!! The Army BH provider he saw was the one who told him to...

What does mental health treatment look like after the military?

Can you try to see a civilian psychiatrist? We did last year and she accepted Tricare until my husband was discharged and lost coverage. She then only charged him a cash price. It was worth it for his sanity, although we just changed to a new one.

Commander refusing to give LOD/National Guard State Active Duty/T32

I have reached out to 3 different attorneys and they are “too busy”. I think that’s my sign. It’s a complicated situation that no one wants to deal with. The gentleman I spoke to today told me he absolutely would qualify for VA benefits if we can get the LOD, or convince the VA through DBQs and...

Commander refusing to give LOD/National Guard State Active Duty/T32

Long story short, yes. The “deployment” was riot control in Sept 2020. He was unaware that he was suffering from PTSD until the spring of 2021, when he had a manic episode, and got diagnosed with Bipolar disorder from a private psychiatrist. He then informed the guard who sent him to their...

Commander refusing to give LOD/National Guard State Active Duty/T32

What do you suggest if the commander states he can’t give an LOD? Fighting a battle for my husband with PTSD and I just can’t seem to get a straight answer, or any help from anyone. I thought we had a LOD, but it was a memorandum from Behavioral Health. :( @Guardguy11

KY NG PTSD claim denied/LOD in hand

I believe the VA has his service dates wrong though. We worked with a VSO who was less than helpful, in my opinion. He was DC’d in January 2022, but the second line of his denial letter states that he was in the Army from June 19, 2014 to August 16, 2014. The VSO told me when I called him that...

    NGB LOD FOIA request

Think on this one…Husband was sent for riot control in our state (state active duty). Developed PTSD, unknowingly, went into manic episode and ended up with Bipolar diagnosis. Informed Guard, sent to BH. Diagnosed with PTSD. (Has LOD). Told to file for workers comp, due to severe anxiety and...

KY NG PTSD claim denied/LOD in hand

I have been busy on my day off yesterday, and sent numerous emails, and even spoke to an actual person at the Governor’s office. I’ve been in touch with the guards Behavioral Health provider today, and they stated that laws are being looked at now. Apparently, my husband was the first soldier to...

KY NG PTSD claim denied/LOD in hand

Yes, we have filed a claim, but i am unsure if he will qualify for anything due to the weirdness of the “active duty” times I have found regarding national guard soldiers.

KY NG PTSD claim denied/LOD in hand

Hello all. Been searching these forums for a while. Spouse was NG, no deployments, other than a short stint in Poland in 2018, but several state active duty assignments. 9 years of service. Worked civil unrest in Louisville KY in 2020, and ended up with PTSD. Led to a manic episode with eventual...
