Questions about how MEB is initiated

Trav - I was put on permanent profile and recommended for a medical evaluation board on July 26th, 2010. However, I was not "in the process" until January 2011. This is because I had not reached "optimal medical benefit" - they're still not done treating you until they can more or less not do...

    Box 25

Mike - I believe Box 25 of VA 21-526. That box, if checked, basically says you are choosing military retirement pay over VA disability pay. I'm sure Mike or Jason will be able to explain it better, but in most cases you want to leave that box unchecked, as VA disability is tax free.

nw, The packet is worded as follows, my comments are in parentheses. Army: 40% PDRL for Intevertebral disc syndrome, throacolumbar spine with degenerative disc disease and scoliosis (my ROM was really bad, less than 30 degrees forward flexion). VA: 40% for Intevertebral disc syndrome...

Officially receiving results tomorrow, informal reconsideration question

Evening all. I met with my NEW PEBLO yesterday and talked about a few things. Magically, my PEB results are in and I receive them officially tomorrow. I already know what my ratings will be (or, rather, should be - PEBLO did the wink and confirmed what I was told by the VA, but you never know...

Where the heck did my ratings go?

This is more of a rant than anything, but still. After speaking with the VA a few weeks ago, they said a ratings determination was made on 26 July and was being reviewed for approval. Seattle was averaging ten days. After checking my status several times on the eBenefits website, nothing had...

Queston regarding concurrent receipt under 20 years

Sir, Thank you for the reply. I have browsed through your DES Outrage series in the past. I never know whether or not I should be surprised at some of these things. According to the calculator provided, my monthly VA benefit would be a little over $1,100 (no CRSC factored in). We spoke...

Queston regarding concurrent receipt under 20 years

nwlivewire - Unfortunately I was unable to access the dtic website. The link seems to have been changed. If you can provide an updated link, it would be appreciated. I did find the following excel worksheet that seems to be very well made - http://davebarker-amvets.info/CRSC_Calc.xls...

Queston regarding concurrent receipt under 20 years

The short of it: In the "decision phase" according to my VA eBenefits profile. My claim was submitted from the PEB to the VA DRAS-Seattle on 11 July 2011. From there, the VA call center said it would take 30 days. Monday, I spoke with probably the only helpful person I've ever spoken to at...

    Remote Care MEB/College Option

I tried to find out about this, as I was told by my PEBLO it was possible, and another PEBLO that it was not. Only regulation I could find deals with Home Awaiting Orders for MEB Soldiers who were inpatients when their MEB was initiated. See AR 635-40, Appendix E, Paragraph E-5 (a) through...

    va ratings

Doesn't seem like it. I have been in the process for a while, though not as long as you. http://www.pebforum.com/f120/fort-polk-ides-timeline-thus-far-27395/ I've been frustrated since the beginning with the whole process. Constantly hearing about overloaded systems and not enough...

    va ratings

I have been sitting at the "decision phase" for close to two weeks now. I have talked to the VA on the phone a few times, and they say "there has been a decision on your ratings, but it is waiting review and approval, after which you will receive a letter." So, in other words, more waiting. In 3...

Fort Polk iDES Timeline (thus far)

Actually I made a mistake in my original post - it has been corrected. I said April instead of May on the NARSUM. The NARSUM was supposed to be quick, and initially it was. However, my referring physician didn't put the paragraph numbers that applied to my various conditions. So, it was sent...

Conflicting information from PEBLOs/Army vs VA Ratings

If you could help me locate in what regulation or directive it says that under the IDES the Army must use the BS VASRD percentages, it would me much appreciated. I like being armed with as much knowledge ahead of time as possible. Once i get my 199 and my ratings back, I will confer with you if...

Conflicting information from PEBLOs/Army vs VA Ratings

Kinda...I am out of my MOS for sure - I'm supposed to be a tank crewman but I sit in an office doing training room and deployment training validation at JRTC. I got stuck with that job not because I have a dead-man's profile (got that after I arrived here), but because I have magical typing and...

Conflicting information from PEBLOs/Army vs VA Ratings

I have been officially in the MEB process since January of this year. After speaking with the Doctor who wrote my P3 profile, the ortho PA who I saw before the process began, and my original PEBLO, my case was an easy one and I would be out by July. This was important to me because I was to...
