20yrs vs 19ish years- Redux and disability retirement & CRDP/CRSC- has anyone really looked at what 20yrs vs 19yrs does?

Ron, Thanks for all your assistance in this matter. I will set the matter aside until I see what changes the CG makes in my case. The response you received leads me to believe the question isn’t even esoteric as it seems no one understands or has a concise/definitive answer. If both situations...

20yrs vs 19ish years- Redux and disability retirement & CRDP/CRSC- has anyone really looked at what 20yrs vs 19yrs does?

Get another lawyer…back to bcmr..argue retirement date since process started well before 20 and retirement date is arbitrary! Send all related information to local congressman and stir the pot as much as possible. Choosing CBS/redux is no different than taking a re-enlistment bonus then being...

20yrs vs 19ish years- Redux and disability retirement & CRDP/CRSC- has anyone really looked at what 20yrs vs 19yrs does?

Ron, That is a fair point but 2 points should be considered. 1. A member who chose csb/redux under normal circumstances (not being forced to retire due to a combat related disability) has the option as part of the redux plan, of staying past 20 years to build retirement back up..someone...

20yrs vs 19ish years- Redux and disability retirement & CRDP/CRSC- has anyone really looked at what 20yrs vs 19yrs does?

And please remember the member in both scenarios took csb/redux…neither chose to retire (rather they were forced to) nor did either choose their retirement date. Yet one has their pay calculated at a reduced amount while the other has their’s calculated using their actual time in service. It is...

20yrs vs 19ish years- Redux and disability retirement & CRDP/CRSC- has anyone really looked at what 20yrs vs 19yrs does?

Right, but in your calculations which I cited as an example..with all the ceilings presumably accounted for, the member at 19yrs 8mos still gets more pay than the member at 20 years when redux is calculated. Using the same logic it could be stated a member (all other factors being the same)...

20yrs vs 19ish years- Redux and disability retirement & CRDP/CRSC- has anyone really looked at what 20yrs vs 19yrs does?

I did attempt to contact dfas once but since I’m a CG retiree they wouldn’t have my info. I was hoping to simply talk to a dfas “expert” but was unable

20yrs vs 19ish years- Redux and disability retirement & CRDP/CRSC- has anyone really looked at what 20yrs vs 19yrs does?

I was hoping for some insight through this site but probably need a lawyer. I just don’t think many ppl are aware of the issue. Maybe someone out there knows how to proceed?

20yrs vs 19ish years- Redux and disability retirement & CRDP/CRSC- has anyone really looked at what 20yrs vs 19yrs does?

I actually started in the Army but retired from the CG. I have contacted PPC RAS but they didn’t really have a clear answer

20yrs vs 19ish years- Redux and disability retirement & CRDP/CRSC- has anyone really looked at what 20yrs vs 19yrs does?

Thank you for the information! I left a voicemail with NVLSP. The information provided above is helpful but does not address the disconnect between medical retirees, CRSC eligible members with 20 plus (calculated using redux) vs members with say 19 years 11 months and 29 days (2.5 x years of...

20yrs vs 19ish years- Redux and disability retirement & CRDP/CRSC- has anyone really looked at what 20yrs vs 19yrs does?

Because I guarantee no branch retirement reps or peblos are advising members in this situation to try and retire prior to 20 years. And if the member begins process prior to reaching 20 years but hits the 20 year mark through the process they could lose upwards of 10% of the pay they would be...

20yrs vs 19ish years- Redux and disability retirement & CRDP/CRSC- has anyone really looked at what 20yrs vs 19yrs does?

I am one of those guys that had PEB started prior to 20years (50% medical and 100% CRSC, 100% VA PNT) that had retirement CRSC calculated at reduced amount due to hitting 20 years in the med board process. It just blows my mind and using your example it would cost the member who reached 20 years...

20yrs vs 19ish years- Redux and disability retirement & CRDP/CRSC- has anyone really looked at what 20yrs vs 19yrs does?

Ron, I do understand the statement concerning disability retirees being exempt from REDUX (except for COLA reduction) as it applies to their retirement from whatever branch but that is only half the story. When it applies to CRSC calculations members with 20 or more (redux retirees) apparently...

20yrs vs 19ish years- Redux and disability retirement & CRDP/CRSC- has anyone really looked at what 20yrs vs 19yrs does?

Also, if it holds that a CSB/redux (disability retiree) hits 20 years and has his/her CRSC calculated at the reduced REDUX percentage, what happens if the the member accepted medical retirement at say 50% prior to hitting the 20 year mark but the retirement doesn't take affect until after the 20...

20yrs vs 19ish years- Redux and disability retirement & CRDP/CRSC- has anyone really looked at what 20yrs vs 19yrs does?

Below is a reply I sent to Ron based of his calculation that was currently at 19 years 8 months and was looking for CRDP vs CRSC calculations. After reading, I looked more into the confusing world of US codes and discovered what I believe to being a glaring issue. I was curious if anyone had...

    CRSC Estimate and Comparison with CRDP—CH 61 Retirement & REDUX/Career Bonus Involved—SGM cobra 2823

Ron, Are you sure of your calculations in the above scenario? As it applies to a CBS/redux and disability retirement, it would appear retiring prior to 20 years oddly provides more benefit! US code 1413 states the following: (3) Special rules for chapter 61 disability retirees.— (A) General...

    Estimate Calculation Request

RonG, Thank you in advance for your time. The numbers are simply an example. The crux of the inquiry is an attempt to determine if two members (one at 20 years and one at 19 years) both took the redux and later received a disability retirement at 50% (everything else being equal), would the...

    Estimate Calculation Request

Sir, Using your calculation model could you calculate (using this basic information) two ways? 20 years active duty and 19 years active duty (pro rated portion of redux bonus waived). I'm curious to see how the redux affects someone who actually reached 20 years active duty vs someone in the...

    Retired Pay--LostInTheSauce (Received CSB/REDUX)

I believe I understand a little more clearly. Every time you post a reply, I get a bit wiser..lol. I am also seemingly in a unique and "rare" case as you said. I retired (January 31, 2010) with 20 years 2 mos AD (in 2 separate branches) and I took the redux. I am currently receiving CRDP at...
