Ok, here's my story, deployed in 06-07 to samara Iraq. 2 i.e.d.'s, then later shot by a sniper through chest/shoulder. Not only have I been stuck in wtb since then, but because they screwed up meds now have seizures. Having lots of memory problems, only sleep every few days and issues with substance abuse. I've been in asap since getting out of the hospital, get busted once and now they are now going to chapter me for it. My chain of command has also maxed me out on a field grade a.r. 15 for the same incident. Due to the memory problems, med changes, and lack of sleep, I've missed a few doctors appointments and formations. Still here a year after my contract expired, the extension they MADE me sign in the past are about to expire, I ets is in aug. The va rep on post has told me that since my packet is already up in d.c, I would ets out and just return when the meb packet returns from d.c. I've learned that both my higher ups, and civilians involved in the meb process either don't know how this system works or more dangerously think they know and give wrong information. It all adds up quick and can make you lose hope. I could really use some guidance, alot of this just seems so wrong. How can they do this to the people who still hurt daily, bear the scars both physically and mentally from doing our jobs? Decorated for valor, excelled in my career, gave six years to the country I love. Now being punished and disgraced because I dealt with the after effects wrong?
