Hello,
I have been helping my service-connected disabled husband with getting his VA Benefits. He wants to go back to college and we called the GI bill department through the VA and were told that they have his "kicker" as only 30.000, when we have his enlistment contract & it shows 40,000 kicker on it as ACF.
He was attending an Arts College back in 2012-2013 but the college ended up closed in 2018 due to unethical practices. We are struggling trying to get his transcripts and if we can't get them was told the VA wouldn't cover courses he already took.
He wants to attend another Art College and we want to get his kicker corrected. How would we go about that? We would like to get this fixed before he gets enrolled and starts attending classes.
While he was attending in 2012-2013 he was entitled for MHA at 100% for post 9/11 GI Bill but the math the lady calculated to us doesn't even come close to 30,000. She said that they were adding $183. a month to his MHA, he says he never got any MHA though.
The way we understood is that he is entitled for 36 months of the kicker and he has 22 months remaining based off what the GI bill department says.
If anyone has any advise or the best course of action that would be greatly appreciated.
