MEB for Asthma

So I’m new to all of this but I’m gonna give it a shot.

I was recently seen for my 4 month asthma checkup. They always call it a Rilo. Over the last 6 years I have always been returned to duty but this time I was moved from a C1 to a C2 code. My PCM essentially asked me if I wanted to get out of the military. With some more explanation he explained that the DAWG is happening next week and that he will recommend to elevate my case. After that my commander will have to concur…. And then so on an so fourth. Doing some research it looks like the next stop after the DAWG is an IRilo. But Iv been doing a rilo every year for the past 6 years.

My question is will my MEB be quicker due to the fact that Iv been seen for this issue for the last 6 years. I just did my annual Rilo in September. Has the DAWG seen my name up there every time they do it and just said “member is fit to return to duty”?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Also I have been seen by mental health for anxiety over the last few months and I’m ready to separate from the AF. Is there any chance that my MH stuff may have triggered this MEB or is that seperate?

It is possible that your MH or your asthma triggered an MEB. Look under the Resource tab of the website, then under AF, and find the MSD. Download that and you can see was the AF considers unfitting.

I assuming my asthma getting worse triggered it but im still unsure if the process will be different for me since I have had an assignment limitation code for so long now. It’s nothing new that just popped up if that makes sense

Did you have a recent PFT(pulmonary function test)?

Or a medication change?

Yes my PCM prescribed me with an advise daily use corticosteroid inhaler about a month ago. I had a checkup last week to see how it was working (it wasn’t working well) which is when my PCM mentioned me going to the DAWG next week. And yes my PFT was in September right before my RILO. I didn’t do well on my PGT. During my Rilo was when they changed my ALC code C1 to a C2.

Both the PFT and inhaled steroids can generate a MEB.

The DAWG is usually a review of your current medical records to determine if a MEB should be started. I would not expect a medical exam being necessary for the DAWG to make a decision.
