MEB/PEB: NG with Existing VA Rating - FT Sill - Timeline

My team wrote up on a VA Form 21-4138 the following:
I.A.W. M21-1,X.i.6.F.2.c. The IDES Participant requests consideration of previous C&P Exams
for his Condition X dated DDMMMYY and Condition Y dated DDMMMYY, both being part of the IDES Referred
conditions, for DOD Rating purposes. I confirm that the nature and severity of my IDES
REFERRED conditions have not changed since those prior examinations. The above mentioned
DBQs still accurately reflect the severity of my REFERRED Conditions. I request that the VA
utilize the mentioned DBQs for all Referred conditions for evaluation for this IDES Process
and for DOD Purposes only. I understand that VA compensation will not be awarded or changed
as part of his/her participation in IDES for the service departments Referred Conditions.
How old were your DBQs at the point where you sent in this form?

Thanks. My ratings are significantly older than that, so we’ll see where it goes from here

As an update of my experience:

I'm NG. I had VA ratings prior to beginning the MEB process.
My rating was several years old prior to my MEB. I WAS required to do C&P exams again.

The results I've seen from others who are going through the process at the same time as me (and with a similar situation) are encouraging: their 199 came through and their VA ratings are currently untouched.

I'll update when I get my 199.

Brother, first off, thank you for posting your plight here. I am an Air National Guard with 29 years of service (all Air Guard) with several deployments to include Iraq and Afghanistan. I started the medical retirement process back around March of 2023 and finally received an FL4 11 March 2024 showing my process officially began 2 Jan 2024 asking for additional information. I submitted what I thought were relevant documents to my Medical (they have NOT been helpful) to submit to NGB and haven't heard anything since. Today, I called around America and got the PEBLO's office in my area and I called and left messages to their voicemail as well.

I'm also 100% P&T rated with the VA (since Oct 2019) and I haven't had any guidance besides my own ignorant, shot-in-the-dark, amateur tactics.

I'm being patient as I know nothing happens in the Guard overnight, but I also know that squeaky wheels get greased, too. I'm afraid that my file may sit on someone's desk collecting dust. I also wish to pursue a federal disability retirement since I'm a dual-status technician.

Again, thank you for showing us your route and congrats on retirement, brother! I'll be behind you shortly (hopefully)!!
Sorry I missed this! How did it all pan out for you? It's been almost a year.

I can tell you, from a retirement standpoint, it's amazing. I've been able to work toward a radical civilian career change thanks to my retirement money and it has been nothing but a blessing to my family in the transition.

Good luck to you. I can see it has already been a long road for you. The waiting to see how this all pans out is the hardest part. It's stressful. It helps establish your financial future. You'll see, when you finally get on the other side of this process you'll see it was worth it to go through it.

Yeah, it’s been a bit of time. I got on temporary profiles starting prior to May 2023.

I would say that since I officially notified my PCM at the unit that I can’t do it anymore, and got a permanent profile, it’s been since November ‘23

The latest is that my PEBLO said the NARSUM and the DA3947 was being worked on today…

Hopefully I’ll get favorable results soon

So update on me- received my reconsideration for PTSD from 50% to 70% (which was my goal) on Monday 22 June (I saw it on va.gov since I have access already). ODC lawyer said I should have the updated IPEB today (Im off until Tuesday, so it definitely should be in by then).

I've been on cloud 11 since then. I'm a federal tech, so once I get my retirement orders, Im filing for federal disability retirement ASAP.

I want to thank everyone here for all of your assistance. This is truly a group effort and yalls advice and opinions kept me going. 3 years is a LONG TIME trying to medically retire....

Wow! Congratulations! The long battles are draining for sure and filled with stress and uncertainty, but I’m glad you came out victorious on the other side. Hopefully, the long fight will help you appreciate the results even more.

Good luck on your future endeavors!

Thank you and yes, I appreciate what I have even more than I did before. Mostly, I used the process and 'opportunity' to teach and show others how this system 'works'.

Since Im Air Guard, the vast majority of us didn't even know this option existed; we definitely didn't know who could be eligible. I literally allowed some folks to actually see my paperwork as I submitted it, what I received in return, and everything.

I'm all about "each one, reach one, teach one"...
