No Va rep

I was Active AF and was medically retired with 20 years and 1 day of service at 40% DoD and 70% proposed VA rating. I received my DD214. All the forums say that my PEB will forward stuff to the VA rep. My PEB quit assiting me the day I got the letter from the SecAF saying retirement. As far as I know I have no VA repersentative. I know there has to be someone linked but I have never seen a name nor spoken to a Va rep. At this point I have received a retirement check statement from the Air Force saying I will receive a check 1 Jan. However I have no idea what to do with the Va portion. Supposively under the IDES it is automatic. Does anyone know what I am suppose to be doing in order to get a Va check?

no idea but i think its automatic from what I have been told. I'm in the same situation, but trying to make it to that 20 year mark.

The day you separate you need to take your DD 214 to the VA Military Service Coordinator (MSC). This is the guy who helped you fill out your paperwork for the C&P exams. Generally they sit in the same building as the PEBLO. If you were boarded through IDES, the MSC should have been part of your process.

If you don't know who the MSC is, call the PEBLO you had and ask them for the MSC name and number. If you don't get the DD 214 to the MSC, your stuff is going to get messed up. It's a big part of the process. If nobody is willing to help, call the Veterans Benefit Administration (VBA) and tell them your situation.

How come your DOD rating is not at 50% instead of 40% since you have 20 years of active federal service?

20 years has nothing to do with a rating. The SM with receive the retirement rate not the MEB rate.

My understanding was a service member with 20 or more years of active federal service is automatically entitled the Length of Service retirement which is at least 50 percent for 20 years of service. J8ed said, stated he had 20 years and 1 day of service. He received 40 percent from DOD, so I was wondering why he didn't get a minimum 50 percent.

The rating of a disability claim has nothing to do with a 20 year retirement, he is going to receive the 50% no matter what since he hit his 20 years. It is just paperwork of a claim, nothing more. Your line of thought is making you look too deep, if you have concerns with the same thing happening to you, don't worry if you have your 20 years, you WILL collect CDRP, which infact the original poster will be.;)
