I do not know why my process is taking so long. It has been 134 days since my package was sent to the VA. Every time I call the 1800 number, it's always too busy. Checking E-benefits, it still says gathering of evidence. When I talk to my PEBLO, he doesn't have any information. Do you think it could take another 120+ Days for me to hear something? Does anyone have any advice/ideas/info on how I can find out any info or how much longer it might take. I am trying to find a job in my hometown but, with everything up in the air like it is, I can't even try to search for one. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Where is your package at? have you checked the timeline threads for that particular office on here? How complicated is your case/how many items did you claim etc.

You indicated that your Narsum was signed in OCT., its a safe bet that you were found unfit, but do you know the date that the package went to the VA for ratings? Many packages with greater than 7 claims are taking well in excess of 130+ days once it reaches the VA especially at Washington and Providence due to a huge backlog. I have 24 claimed conditions at providence RO and it took 139 days to even bee assigned to a rater, the ratings are done and they are either waiting supervisor review or they have all ready gone to AFPC, I am unsure.

As far as projected timeline, once your package goes to AFPC with proposed ratings, if everything is right/ you agree with it, then it may be 3-6 weeks for AFPC to get them to your PEBLO, then you have 30-90 days depending on leave/ptdy etc. So it may very well be the beggining of June before your out, if everything is smooth, if you need to go to formal or VARR, you can add a lot to that timeline.

My package is currently at Providence. I haven't checked the timeline thread for that particular location. My case isn't really that complicated but, I am claiming 19 conditions with the VA with 3 of them being unfit conditions for vertigo, migraine, and lower back problems. I have no idea when it was sent to the VA for ratings. My PEBLO hasn't told me anything since I signed my NARSUM. How would I find out if I am unfit or not? My PEBLO just tells me he hasn't heard anything about once a month.

its a safe bet that you were found unfit if you have not heard anything. Providence was way behind due to an army backlog of cases being sent to them over the last several months. That back log is done and they are currently working sept-oct cases, so you should see movement soon.

Being AF, my guess is AFPC took 3 weeks or so to determine fitness, so basically your either in the late October or early November time frame for arrival at the VA. You should be able to call your peblo and ask what date your case was sent to the VA, if he gives you a date, then you were found unfit. if he does not want to give you a date, then they are not doing their job and are just being lazy, because they have VTA and the peb tracking application which would show you at the least those dates. However some AF peblo's like to keep it close to their chest, because you are not "officially" unfit until the VA returns your form 356 to the MEB.

According to my PEBLO, my package was sent to AFPC on 7 OCT 13 and to the VA on 14 Nov 13. He is also in the process of switching PEBLOs right now. I don't know if that will delay the process at all. My PEBLO has been helpful for the most part. He is prior maintenance and I am currently maintenance so he isn't leaving me in the dark but, I just want some info since everything is taking so long.

13 November 13 - Determined unfit
14 November 13 - Package sent to VA for ratings
13 March 14 - EBenefits status changed from "GATHERING OF EVIDENCE" to "PREPARATION FOR DECISION"

Finally, some kind of status changed. If it's in the "prep for decision" phase, can you call the VA to get proposed ratings? Or does that happen later? I called on the 11th of March to ask and they didn't have my ratings yet but, my status was also still at "GATHERING OF EVIDENCE". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

my package was sent to the VA on 16 Nov and I checked my Ebenefits today and it changed to preparation for decision. So it looks like I am in the same boat as you. I have 18 claimed conditions. Hopefully you hear something soon.

Typically your proposed ratings are complete when you are in the "Pending Decision Approval" phase. The trick is knowing when you have entered that phase especially if your eBenefits doesn't seem to be updating. Also keep in mind that these ratings are not easy to get from VA since they are not suppose to tell you anything about your case. Really it's the luck of the draw when calling. Some people have gotten DAV reps to look the ratings up but I believe that is becoming harder to do also.

Yea. The VA actually talked to my PEBLO about making a new appointment for my foot since it didn't get evaluated at the VA. My doctor was not comfortable with doing a VA appointment. It's not his job. So they are going to get that condition taken out so I can get my final ratings approved. I sprained my foot about a year ago and it's not bothering me one bit so, I asked them to disclaim that condition since it was a one time thing. Hopefully, I hear my ratings within the next couple of weeks. I hope to get out by my DEROS in May so I don't have to worry about this fitness test either or at least be out processing by that timeframe. I am overseas so I know it takes a little bit more time to out process. At least I know that the VA is finished with my paperwork so I at least see some light at the end of my tunnel.

Got a call from my PEBLO this week telling me that I needed to send them an MFR to take the foot condition off of my claimed conditions. I am a little aggravated that it had been 3 weeks just to let me know that I needed to do that. Now the VA is gonna drag their feet to take my foot condition off. Gotta love this hurry up and wait process. Anyone know how long it takes for them to take something like this off and sent to AFPC so I can get my ratings?

Finally, a status change. It only took the VA a month to send my stuff back to AFPC so I can find out my ratings soon. I see a light at the end of the tunnel!

Well once again it looks like our packages are real close together. Mine changed today from "Preparation For Decision" to "Pending Decision Approval". So I should hear something a few days after you hear something. Keep us updated looks like we will both be hearing something soon.

24 April 14 - PEBLO called 0%DOD/30%VA - Did not sign my 356 just yet.

Does anyone have any advice on if I should fight the DOD rating? My PEBLO told me that unless I have sufficient evidence, the FPEB wont change the rating? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I recently received my ratings as well and here is what I know. Call an IDES attorney and have them review your rating determination and your medical documentation. If your condition was stable and there is no new medical evidence and if the IDES attorney does not spot an error in your determination you're unlikely to have your ratings raised. That is what happened with me.

Now if there is a related diagnosis that arose after your board started, then you have a course for a VARR and fpeb appeal. Typically if the proper conditions are found unfitting a FPEB appeal is unnecessary. If you do feel that there is sufficient evidence in accordance with VA rating guidelines to get your percentages raised, by all means request a va rating reconsideration.

well I called the VA 1800# today and they said my proposed ratings were complete and sent back to the PEB. I am getting close. I cant wait.
