Wait Time For Providence, RI

Spoke with my peblo again, Air Force IPEB recieved my ratings on wednesday, and she said that lately it is only taking about 3 weeks from the time they receive it to send official notification to the peblo.
 
Ugggggh......congrats to all who recently received ratings, with myself being found unfit on 24 December I would hope to get mine sometime soon, however I'm still stuck in "gathering of evidence" with "evidence requested is past due development letter sent". I spoke with my VSO yesterday, I was under the impression that the packages were first come first served and he told me that wasn't necessarily the case, which to me is very frustrating, especially considering I had a guy working for me that started his MEB/PEB a month after me and was done and drove out of the state the last week of February. From what the VSO said mine case wasn't even being worked yet. Hopefully I haven't pulled out all my hair by the time it's done, as it sits now it'll be over a year from the time I was notified at the beginning of August 2013 until I'm retired.
So if its not on a first come first served basis, can anybody shine light on how cases are "prioritized"? Or is it a crap shoot??? So the guy who started the meb/peb and finished long before you have a more complicated case?

My Commander called AFPC today and they said my package hasn't even been checked in yet but once it is, it can take 5-10 days after that! They received it on 3Apr so hopefully not too much longer! All I can do is continue to wait....come on AFPC!!!!

Our timelines are similar, I would be ecstatic if my ebenefits would just move to preparation for decision. let alone getting my percentages back. Judging by others timelines you should hear back either next week or the following week. How many conditions/unfitting conditions did you have?

I was recently awarded DOD 10% and 60% VA. So I get all the bennies. I'm AGR with the Air National Guard and will recieve my retirement from them when I am 60. I also will be retired from my Federal civilian job with 60% the first year and 40% until I reach age 60. I am recieving a severance package in the amount of $136,509. My VA rep said that since I was 60% that I didn't have to pay it back. I also read that if the VA rates you for the same unfitting condition that the severance pay was not taxable. Have you heard of that?

Hmm, was your PEB referred unfitting condition "incurred in a combat zone" after January 28, 2008?

To that extent, if so, then you shall have an opportunity to keep the military disability severance without DoVA recoupment while keeping the DoVA compensation for the medical condition also!

If so, then you shall have an opportunity to keep the military disability severance without DoVA recoupment while keeping the DoVA compensation for the medical condition also!

If not, then I am not aware of any other provision which may potentially a military service member to keep their military disability severance without DoVA recoupment!

Moreover, military disability retired pay and military severance pay awarded to military service members who were not members of the Armed Forces on September 24, 1975, is considered taxable income by the Internal Revenue Service. As such, an exception exists for a military service member receiving disability separation pay or disability retired pay by reason of a combat-related injury.

To that extent, may be other PEB Forum members shall be able to provide additional sound insightful information albeit the DoD IDES PEB makes combat-related determinations on all DoD IDES cases considered.

I sure hope its this week! I had 2 unfitting conditions...lumbago and sacral radiculopathy.

Well I was told since I was 60% VA by the VA rep that the severance pay was for me and they wouldn't recupe it and that I will still get my monthly compensation. I read also that if I was was found unfit from both the VA and DOD that my severance pay was untaxble. So confused!

Well may be albeit from a DoD IDES process perspective, military disability retired pay and military severance pay awarded to military service members who were not members of the Armed Forces on September 24, 1975, is considered taxable income by the Internal Revenue Service.

As such, an exception to the aforementioned provision exists for a military service member receiving disability separation pay or disability retired pay by reason of a combat-related injury only.

Hmm, at this point, I would say that it's probably in your best interest to obtain documented proof from the VA representative as to the potential "DoVA 60% rating yields no serverance pay recoupment" policy/statue/ regulation/rule for future references in my opinion.

Otherwise, good deal and again congratulations if the aforementioned policy/statue/regulation/rule is truly a validated provision as mentioned by your DoVA representative! ;)

So...I've been following this forum throughout my process and I must say, it has been extremely helpful. I'm still pretty early in my timeline compared to most of you on here, but I was hoping for some thoughts on expectations. So far it looks a little something like this:

Jan 14 - Referred to MEB
Jan 27 - Began Claim w/ VA
Feb 26 - C & P Exam w/ VA
Mar 07 - NARSUM received
Mar 10 - ADDENDUM received/Signed NARSUM
Mar 11 - Sent to IPEB from MEBLO
Mar 17 - Told by MEBLO UNFIT/sent to VA Ratings Officer in Providence

Based on the events/timeline, does anyone have any ideas on what I might be looking at? My PEBLO said that it could be up to 90 days at the VA if they have a backlog, but said to call him in 2 weeks and hopefully we can see the ratings online.

I'm truly just trying to figure out what to tell possible future employers and whatnot about a start date, etc. Is there even a safe date to use right now? I'm becoming more patient with the process as it is moving along, but it doesn't make it any easier. Those of you that have been waiting for 6 months or longer, I am sorry and I don't know how you have done it.

She said she received an email last week stating they were "caught" up but who knows exactly what that means. No dates are solid until you SIGN those proposed ratings. I'm focusing on the long end that way anything before that is great. However, i contacted the VA and she said it was notated in her system to take up to 4 weeks for a rating decision to be made. (from the date they accepted it). I'm on week three. Once i sign i'm not taking the "up to 90 days" to process out. it will be my terminal/permissive try and i'm done. Best thing is to take care of EVERYTHING you can now so when the date comes you are good to go.

i noticed it today when i logged in (its in my timeline below). Took me a second to realize what was different but i knew the screen seemed different. Considering mine has said the same thing since early Feb. Hopefully that's a good sign.

Mines been at evidence past due since December, not to be a downer but, many on here are way over the three months that's supposed to be on the long end of the PEB portion, I myself was found unfit on December 24th and haven't heard anything since and have been at "gathering evidence evidence past due". Good luck and I hope yours is quicker.

OK, So the IPEB only took 5 days to complete my package. I received my official ratings today. I am hoping someone can shed some light for me. I have heard on numerous occasions that if you have bilateral pes plans (flat feet) you should be getting 10% per foot. I only got 10% total for that. Has anyone seen anything different? Also, once I am out how long do I have to wait before I can resubmit medical documents for a higher rating? I was only given 10% for my hip, but I need a second surgery and need pain management. I have additional med docs for my hip, but don't want to wait the 3ish months for a ratings reconsideration before I get out, I want to be done now and just submit med docs after retirement. Any information would be great!!! Also, prior to the VA rounding I was at 94%, so any extra percentage would bump me to 100%

Congrats on receiving your findings! There is a clause with bilateral issues where 10 percent is supposed to be added, but I am not sure if it is included in pes plans. You could submit right after you begin receiving your stipend. Once the money comes in, start your increase claim. The deal is, as long as you submit within the first year, they will back date the payments from your EAS.
