Physical Board Review Question

I'm new on this forum and have a question that maybe someone on here can help me. I went into the Army back in 96. I was in for a year and a half until I got hurt. I was crossing the road going back to the base and was hit by a Korean soldier that was drunk driving. I suffered multiple injuries. I was in a coma for weeks. I had 0 percent chance to live. Thank God it's been 21 years. When I first came back I was getting military retirement but I started getting VA retirement so the other stopped. I was put on the Temporary Disability list. I received a letter from the DOD about retirement. What exactly does that mean? Does this mean someone dropped the ball somewhere? I am at 60% with the VA. Back then the military had me at 20%. Why would I be getting this letter now?

I tried uploading it but it wouldn't go through. It came from the Department of the Air Force. It went on saying that I may be eligible to apply to the PDBR. I have to fill out the DD form 294. Application for a Review by the PDBR of the Rating Awarded Accompanying a Medical Separattion from the armed forces. It just came out of the blue.

It is a generic letter everyone received with a discharge date in a certain range. Everyone separated within certain years are receiving these letters. I separated in 2003 and just got asked to apply in 2014. It takes time to track everyone down. Read the PDBR forums and see what it is about and if you want to go through with it. Bottom line is you have nothing to lose and a lot to gain.

I got a permanent retirement from it and lifelong Tricare and other military benefits.

You have an amazing story! Thank God you made it! I totally agree with @Keebs You should go about applying. You don't really have to do much except wait once you give them the OK to pull your records or send them any additional information you have. The waiting period can be tough but personally I decided to put in my paperwork and check periodically but not get my hopes up. My case is still pending.

Anyway you should submit an application as soon as possible. I wish you many blessings on your journey.

Hi Lyria! And thank you. I submit last month and I guess now it's a waiting game. I guess they confirmed my eligibility and are getting all my records together. Yes, it has been a struggle with everyday life. I take it day by day.
