IPEB/ VA Ratings Diabetes

Hello,
Looking for some advice with IPEB and VA one time reconsideration(Air Force). Recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes about 7 months ago. I just started the IPEB and was notified I should be being VA ratings in the mail any day. When I was looking other my IDES case file I noticed that on the VA DBQ the examiner marked no for regulation of activities. This makes me almost certain that the VA rating will come back as 20%. In the same case file it shows my Endocrinologist notes " Restricted diet: carbohydrate balanced diet with carbohydrate counting and avoiding strenuous activity. A minimum of 2 appointments per month in Diabetics Clinic(DCC)." On the VA DBQ it states the definition of regulation of activities " can be defined as avoidance of strenuous occupational activities with the intention of avoiding hypoglycemic episodes." Am I wrong for thinking I have a strong case to argue VA 40% rating if they come back at 20%. Should I indicate that the VA examiner make a mistake and request a VA reconsideration when my ratings come back. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The rater is suppose to review the whole file including the examiner notes just have to wait and see.

If you get 20% you can request a VARR.

Thank you for your reply. I just got my ratings back as 60% VA but was put on TDRL. Going to FPEB to ask for PDRL as my condition is permanent and stable. Any advice for helping me achieve this outcome? I also have gotten my endocrinologist to write a letter stating my condition is permanent and will not improve or get worse.

I think your strategy is sound. Doesn't hurt to then have Primary Care Physician write a letter too. A lot of the times your primary physician will sign one if they see a specialist has done so. The more documents the better.

Hopefully you have an attorney for your FPEB. A letter from an endocrinologist is sound evidence. Best wishes.

Thank you so much for your help. Just wanted to give a quick update. Got two letters from two different endocrinologist's and wrote my personal statement outlining why I was right with AFI and VARSD references. President of the FPEB conceded with out having the hearing and agreed with PDRL 60%. Again, I want to thank everyone who helped me on this forum it has meant a lot.
