Hey all, I wanted to post my timeline and see if anyone else is in a similar spot. I also wanted to share my experience in the process and hopefully help others out who may have questions. So far my process has been relatively smooth. It appears that the VA and MEB/PEB is finally working through the COVID backlog.

The biggest thing I have learned is to be your own advocate! I have stayed in constant contact with my PEBLO, VA Rep, and Docs. The first thing that I noticed was that the VA rep will tell you to wait for a call for your C&P exams. You do not need to wait. I looked up my local QTC office and called them directly 48hrs after submitting my claim. They already had my claim on file and told me they work off a list in the order the claims are submitted, but if you call them they will schedule your appts that day. So I had all my exams 3 weeks from calling the QTC line (first availability). The second thing is that once your exams are back they are posted to your Tricare patient portal. You can see them long before they make it back to your PEBLO. I took the exams and logged into VA.gov and uploaded them myself to my claim. Then you have the option to complete at 5103 notice of acknowledgement that you have submitted all your documents and want the VA to make a decision with only those documents. I did this and within 24hrs my VA portal updated to preparation for decision. Lastly, the VA seems to tell everyone they mail you letters. I have yet to receive any letters via the mail. But once you see on the portal they sent you a letter you can wait 10 days, call the VA hotline and request they email you the letter. I had to do this with my developmental letter and I assume I will end up doing the same thing for my ratings. After speaking with my PEBLO and the MEB doctor its estimated I should have my 199 back with ratings around August (worst case scenario).

I know that this process can be extremely long and frustrating for a lot of people. It seems that a lot of the process is luck of the draw. I have been fortunate to have a great PEBLO who always responds within a few hours of shooting him an email. It also seems to depend on the case and how many conditions you are claiming for the MEB stage. All my claims have been heavily documented in my medical record for over a year. I was told that this is also why my case has been moving quickly, everything was already in my record and the C&P exams concurred with those records.

Shogun, I concur with the comments on calling QTC. I called once I saw E-benefits show "exam request processing" So I knew they had it. Which was also about 48 hours after my claim was submitted. Is there a way your looking that up on Tricare though? I am army guard so this may be just an active duty thing. But if it does show up somehow could you give a step by step on that process?

Your claims and mine merry up almost identical. I haven't had them fit or unfit as I'm not at that stage but I will be curious to see.

I’m not sure if guard can access it, but I would assume so because it’s Tricare run.

here is the link TRICARE Online

You can login with a CAC or DS login.
Once logged in go to medical records > documents

all record will be in the documents drop down.
Your MEB proceedings will state fit/unfit. Hopefully you will get them soon! Good luck.

It doesn’t look like the link is posting. If you google “tricare online patient portal login” it will be the first link

Now your playing the same waiting game, I have been in the informal PEB stage for going on 41 days and the CMS dashboard is showing the average is 35. After that, it appears that it takes forever for the VA to send the 199 back so you can finalize your MEB and be done. Good luck and I will update my status as it moves through as well.

Yeah the waiting is driving me nuts. More so because it took nearly 2 years of dealing with this injury to even get taken seriously.
Where are you stationed at? I’m at Bragg and it seems that a lot of people are getting their 199s within a couple days of receiving news their PEB made a determination.

Yeah I hate this waiting game, I already have a job offer and I am literally losing money every day I am still in. I am stationed at Fort Huachuca, but my PEBLO never gives good information on current timelines and how long everything is taking.

Lets not forget your either accruing debt this whole time during the MEB as well if you are having VA debt from collecting military pay, or have an SGLI debt if you waive military pay.....At least for the guard anyway. You get debt either way.

Oh damn that’s sucks. Active duty doesn’t have that, thankfully. It blows my mind how this system is so inefficient. I’ve been reading the forums for awhile now and this process is nuts. There doesn’t seem to be a standard for anything.

I’m sorry your going through that. I’m not even going to bother applying for anything until I get my 199 back. It will make for a tight few months probably but idk what else to do. They sure don’t make it easy for a successful transition

Yeah. It does, I think most people just consider it a normal thing at this point but it does suck because no matter what you do you accrue a debt in either circumstance. but I stated my Meb process on 5/10/21 so hopefully it will move quick like your has. I just finished my last QTC exam on the 15th.

If you have an actual job offer you need to submit it to your PEBLO. This will expedite your case. If you PEBLO is not responding to that contact your local Ombudsman.

I hope it moves quickly for you! If your able to access your DBQs you can look up the rating scheme and see where your going to fall for ratings as well.

What is the DBQs?
They are the questionnaires they fill out during your QTC exams for each disability. I looked at the questions and then the ratings and you can line them up by what the doc checks on your DBQ and see where that falls in the rating scheme. So I estimated 30/90 for mine. Which is exactly what legal estimated as well.

Update on my process. I’m currently 35 days into IPEB. My VA rating came back on 14 July. Peblo has already received them and forwarded them to PEB. Just waiting on PEB completion now. Not getting any sort of timeline for completion from my peblo. He said anywhere from 1-3 months from the start of the PEB. So I’m over a month in.

I received a job offer and will be submitting an offer letter to the PEB to expedite the process.

The expedited memo helped me tremendously, within 5 days of submitting the memo I had my PEB findings.

Did your proposed ratings change at all? I got my proposed ratings today and sent in my job offer today for them to expedite everything else.
