Denied Convalescent Leave

AD AF, had L5-S1 spinal fusion and discectomy 1 March I have been on con leave since then. My spine surgeon (civi) recommended that I be on con leave at least until July and submitted documentation as to why he thinks it is necessary. My PA military provider says con leave in excess of 49 days for this surgery is not necessary. Not sure how that is even possible. I am not allowed to drive, no sitting longer than 30min 6x/day, the usual no BLTs and I am still taking a muscle relaxer and opiate around the clock. Not sure how I am expected to work. Anyone have any experience with this or what my options are to fight the military PA and follow the suggestions of my spine surgeon? Thanks!

Your PA or Commander can not approve Con Leave of over 30 days. Any Con leave above 30 days has to be approve by the Commander of the MTF (Military Treatment Facility).
 
So far, I've had 60 days, in 30 day increments approved by my flt commander. That is the work around, but I was told I cannot get more than that.

By chance did you get it figured out? I'm about to have the same surgery as you and my PCM told me they will only give me 30 days even though my spine surgeon requested I get 12 weeks.
