Seeking Advice for Acknowledgement Section of Commander's Impact Statement

I have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, going through the IRILO, and I recently received my commander's impact statement. My command team is strongly recommending that I be retained in the Air Force. I also intend to be retained.

I am considering making comments in the airman acknowledgement section. Would be that be advised, even if I concur with what the commander? Here's what I'm considering:

"I concur with my commander's statement. Additionally, I have over 15 years of Active Duty service. I intend to retire from the Air Force. The combination of my skills, knowledge, and experience brings value to the Air Force and Department of Defense. My medical condition has minimal impact on the performance of my duties."

The last two sentences alone are sufficient.

You’re welcome, best wishes.

Any updates?

I am largely in the same boat as yourself. In 15 years and I want to stay in. I feel no ill effects of the diagnosis

Hello, I did get officially returned to duty with a ALC-2 (Code Y). The major factor that helped me was that my most recent A1C was below a 5.5

I'm also now in the process of requesting medical clearance for an assignment to Korea. Good luck!

@David01, my A1C spiked at 6.5. 30 days later it was at 6.4. They started me on metformin.

How long did it take you to get to 5.5?

Were you on any meds to get there?

What else did you do to get your a1c levels down? Just diet, excercise and water?

Did you only have one test in excess of 6.5?
