Good afternoon,
as I said above i am a 25 year long Dual Status Fed tech, that is likely going through a MEB on the Military side..... and frankly i am at a loss as to what may happen and what to do....

im not 100% confident that things will get handled accurately, if i do get "MEB'd"...... or that i may have rights or benefits that get mishandled.

any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Hello,

Yes, there is a lot going on with someone in your situation. My background is as a fed civilian on the non-mil side and guard member. While I'm no an expert in the dual-status arena it has overlap to my background and I have been helping some soldiers in a similar dual status situation. Most of them however are under 20 yrs. Your 25+ years of fulltime status is your safety net for your retirement regardless of the DES process results.

As I'm sure you know, several factors play in to military medical DES retirement as dual status and the ability to keep your tech side job. This medical process could or could not end your tech/civilian side job...likely will end it. Is your position capable of being held by someone without wear of the military uniform and/or is there a similar job you are capable of doing within commuting distance and of similar grade?

Are you at least 50 yrs old?

Do you have any deployments to combat zones?

Do you have any title 10 time w/ in line of duty injuries/issues?

Do you have any completed LODs?

Some law that could help.

thank you for your response and insight.... i am 50 plus but surprisingly no real activations or much AD time nor LODs. thankfully i have saved diligently in my TSP and though no million its a decent savings. i have read some of the thread you posted but it will continue on..

Are they putting you in for a non-duty MEB then?
