I recently got approved 100% CRSC. I know I won't get 100% pay but I'd like to know the ballpark of the monthly compensation from DFAS. my VA rating is 100%, I forgot to file for CRSC when I got out in 2013. my entry date into the Army was January 2009 and medically retired in Dec 2013 as an E-5. due to my injuries in Afghanistan my contract was cut short, was supposed to get out in Dec of 2015. also am I entitled to back pay or I filed too late this past year?

Need a lot more information. Need your VA compensation. Your DOD %. Your gross DOD pay before VA offset. How long have you been in? Years and months. Whats your dependent situation? Married? Kids? How many if yes?

My VA compensation is $4,004
DOD 90% but I got this rating in 2013
my gross DOD pay was $1,683 but now in 2024 it is $2,203. with VA Waiver I get zero from DOD
I joined in January 2009 got medically retired Dec 2013. my original ETS date was Dec 2015 if not for med board exit.

You can't get more than the combination of your VA compensation and earned longevity pension. So the max amount for CRSC is $367.13. That is how much you are losing due to the VA offsetting your earned longevity pension. Since you were in for only 5 years there wasn't very much of a pension earned. That is why the number is so low. Below are the calculations for the numbers used:

HIGH 3 PAY
2937
DOD DISABILITY PERCENTAGE
75
CRSC AWARD*(DOLLAR AMOUNT)
4004
YEARSMONTHS
TIME OF SERVICE
5
0
MONTHLY V.A. PAY
4004
CRSC PAY
367.13
RESIDUAL RETIRED PAY0
TOTAL FROM DFAS
367.13
Total Pay
4371.13

Can someone tell me what I would get for crsc if I served for 19 years and 70 percent CRSC E7 rank. 100 percent VA

Need a lot more information than that to give you an estimate. if 19 years were you medically retired? If so, what was your DOD%? What is your VA compensation amount? What is your gross retirement pay before VA offset?

Hello @hispanicnco ,

I will give it a try if you can provide all the following info:

1. Dod Disability percentage
2. Gross pay from recent DFAS RAS
3. VA percentage; amount; number of dependents by category and age if children
4. Active duty equivalent. it should be on your retirement orders as DISABILITY RETIREMENT: xx years xx months
5. Did you have the blended retirement program?
6. CRSC approved percentage -- guess if not approved at this time

Medically retired 4200 VA 100% DOD 3100 retirement I believe. Can someone tell me what I would get for crsc if I served for 19 years and 70 percent CRSC E7 rank. 100 percent VA
Hello @hispanicnco ,

Estimate with information provided by retiree:

1. 3100/75% = 4133.33 contemporary average high three base pay
2. 19 active duty years (inferred) x 2.5% = 47.5% longevity multiplier (2% is used for blended retirement)
3. 4133.33 x 47.5% = 1963.33 hypothetical longevity portion of retired pay (a CRSC ceiling)
4. Based on the information you provided, some of which is left to interpretation, your CRSC will be the lesser of ~1963.33 or the 70% rate in the VA compensation tables.
5. CRSC @70% veteran no dependents = 1,716.28

Any of the furnished factors in the formula inaccurate = inaccurate estimate.

Ron

If the amount in the VA compensation tables (including dependents) for your approved CRSC percentage is MORE than the longevity of ~1963.33 then you receive the longevity amount.
