Medical Discharge or just Separate with 100%?

Long story short, I only have two and a half months left in service, only been in for 4 years.
I have 5 issues that put me well above 100% in the VA claims - also not able to work.

My PCA is talking (again) about starting the DAWG process for a med-board, should I push for that or just separate and go through the VA?
It should be noted I have NOT started my claim with the VA yet, just using online tools I've found that I'm well above the 100% with confirmed conditions via Medical.

Just heard about this place today, Thanks for any advice!

1. You have 2 months left in service but havent started your claim yet? Why didn't you start the BDD process when you were 6 months out? You're out of the window now. You'll have to wait until after you separate to start the claims process.

2. If your PCM is pushing to start the MEB process for you for one of your conditions, I personally would take that route and have my ETS date extended (MEB hold). That way, if found unfit (you say you have issues that are enough to put you above 100% so I assume they are severe), you will get your ratings while you are still in, and leave the service with something. You were getting out anyway... so might as well get out with a medical separation severance check or a medical retirement with tricare for life.

I will say this - ultimately it is up to the VA rater and your C&P examiner. You can think you have a sever condition and deserve X rating, but if your examiner marks a different box on the DBQ, you will be rated lower. Not saying it will happen. Just saying that it's mainly up to what the examiner is putting on your DBQs.

1. I've been having horrid pain and been busy with work, when I did finally get around to it about 100 days out I had many issues with the online submission and it ended up not working out :( is what it is.

2. AH I was under the impression that I would be provided with Tricare if I hit 100% regardless, but it's safer regardless to go with the process and med hold. Thanks!
As per my conditions it's pretty rough, and I have to use a cane just to get around to give you a picture.

OF course, i'm a little nervous about it but I have enough to prove my claims tenfold. We'll see.

Apply for SS Disability now. Don’t let anyone tell you can’t.

Based on your questions and comments it appears you are missing a lot of information regarding the IDES and VA processes. And as the Chaplain suggested look into SSDI. Do your best to read everything you can here on the forums. The information could significantly change your future should you be eligible based on your conditions. Start with the MEB/PEB process.

Also... "AH I was under the impression that I would be provided with Tricare if I hit 100% regardless, but it's safer regardless to go with the process and med hold." - VA at 100% gets you medical coverage at the VA and possibly Champ VA for your family. Military Medical Retirement via IDES MEB/PEB at 30% or more will give you and your family access to Tricare.
