I’m an active duty servicemember going through a med board and was doing my full body muskularskeletal exam today when I had an anxiety fueled panic attack. I completely blacked out and woke up a few minutes later surrounded by EMTs.
I spent three hours going through the verbal portion of my DBQs, which we then got up to do the physical exam portion when the examiner said it should only take about 15 min. (I had 7 bilateral claims, back, etc…) This immediately made me feel weary.
I made it less than 2 minutes into the exam as the examiner was literally grabbing my wrist and elbow and moving it to full rom before moving to the next. No active movement to pain examination was being done. I was in pain but they didn’t annotate ANY OF IT. I stopped and asked if they want me to verbalize my pain and was told they’re were looking for my facial expression - that’s it.
At that moment I felt a massive panic and began to feel nauseous and tingly. I was blacked out about 30 seconds later. I was so overwhelmed by being taken advantage of by this examiner that it triggered me horribly. (I’m being med boarded for combat PTSD)
EMTs showed, took vitals to make sure I was stable. I refused an ER trip despite them recommending I go with them. I was so done by that point. I just wanted to be home.
VES called me after to follow up and said they’d reschedule.
I’m going to fill out a complaint to the VA.
Will the DBQs I did at that exam be redone?
What else should I do or look out for?
I’m just at a loss for words.
