VA delay in submitting proposed ratings

I called the VA 3 times and they still won’t send but I’m pretty sure my ratings aren’t finalized yet unless anyone here knows otherwise. They just keep saying it’s with the PEB for final disposition. My PEBLO just told me though that the proposal is 100% from the VA. I hope I get an answer soon. Seeing from your timelines, it might happen in a week or two.

I got my VA ratings on 10/14, but still no word from my PEBLO. Called the VA twice asking if my proposed ratings have been finalized, and they said decision letter hasn't been sent out, so no.

Nah man, I refuse to give these people anymore of my time. I’m protecting myself and my peace, I don’t have a family so truthfully I’m alright with it. How did you determine you were P&T though? I’m curious.
Just A heads up I totally understand that feeling of wanting to be done I was faced with the same dilemma 20 did 100 Va p&t and I thought great I’ll have to do an Fpeb and wait months or walk away from retirement. My IDES attorney informed me of a better option and we went with a VARR (Va rating reconsideration) it’s simply a reevaluation for the referred condition only and if you look at the decision letter it will actually give you a brief explanation of what the next threshold for an increase needs. For my specific case I got shafted by my examiner and they never recorded my range of motion for my hips so I got the minimum 10%, all I had to do was email a doctors note with a new ROM test to my IDES attorney and he forwarded it along with my findings back to the PEB and they send it back to the VA for one last review. I sent mine on Aug 28, it was reviewed and sent back to the PEB by sep 16th. Of course government shutdown has affected my timeline but overall an additional month at the time to potentially get retirement isn’t bad.

Truthfully, retiring versus receiving 100% VA and P&T are practically the same thing. If you look at benefits versus practicality you lose very little not fighting for retirement and I’m okay with it. At 100% VA P&T you receive dental, champva, medical care for all conditions service connected or not. It’s just whether the DoD gives you healthcare or the VA and I don’t have a family so fighting for retirement means very little in the grand scheme. You still also get PX and commissary access with VA I.D. You truly lose very little. That’s just my two cents I’m protecting what little peace I have left lol

Yah if you don’t have a family I totally get it I’m married and want gets eventually so it makes sense for me, I was unaware of the VARR option so I wasn’t sure if it was common knowledge considering most people fear having to do a formal board

Not specifically in this group, but like on social media and stuff retirement is made to sound like the only goal and stuff like that. I only started commenting in here so people can have the absolute fullest picture possible when making decisions about their futures. I wouldn’t want someone to get a low DoD rating and fight for scraps to get to retirement and force themselves to endure through the suck. This system is unfair and extremely taxing.

Also, the legal departments for the PEB/MEB are furloughed as of yesterday when I got my ratings and they said my file would sit there waiting for legal to come back and honestly that was discouraging

New here! Anyone have any guidance on the new Ingram law?
What is it that you want to know? They are reviewing all cases between the end of September and beginning of October, and many will be taking a new C&P exam if you are actively taking medication that helps with your issues. You shouldn't get another scheduled if your meds were accounted for and if they didn't help

I didn’t even hear about this new VA law till posted here haha, but it appears it could be used to benefit veterans for just wanting pains to end, but that’s just a brief review of the basis of it. If you take meds and it helps, OTC, prescribed, whatever the VA cannot consider that to reduce your rating. As with most other things, it can be abused.

@BigBlueHue I've heard the same about legal being furloughed. The one PEBLO that was nice enough to inform me of my preliminary rating said I just had one more signature until my DA199 is finalized. I assume that would be legal, are you in the same boat?

No sir, I had my ratings go to the IPEB and received my DA199 during the shutdown and around two weeks from when ratings were sent to them. They were complete October 10th, sent to IPEB 14th, and received everything back October 23.

All,
What about VA Requests for Reconsideration (VARRs)? I understand the Seattle office (DRAS) also does the VARRs. It is the final stage for me after being found unfit and getting my Proposed VA Ratings.

What is the average time for VARR response? PEBLO and MEB Counsel both told me it is usually around 6 weeks. Is that accurate?

Also, I submitted mine October 3rd, after the Gov Shutdown just started. Is the shutdown delaying processing of VARRs by the DRAS office?

Thank you!

-Jason

My VARR came back in a few days--I asked the MSC at my regional office. I have not seen the results unfortunately because the Air Force office that would put it in the system for my PEBLO to see is furloughed........

So for those talking about receiving another C&P exam. I just fell in the same boat. From what I know my proposed ratings were sent to the PEB 22Oct25, but as of today I got a notification that I may receive a new Appoinment to QTC. I called my PEBLO and she said this Appoinment is only to clarify some conditions to help the finalized VA rating but not the DODs. Anybody that’s been in the similar status, did you guys find out anything else about your new C&P exam? Did you ever get your DA199?

Has anyone experienced PEB taking a long time?
I signed my narsum on July 7.
Va step 5/5 closes on October 14. I already know my proposed ratings.
DOD still has not found me fit or unfit as of today October 27.
Why is it taking so long regardless of the shutdown? Is it because I am a physician?
