Scoliosis MEB

I recently was issued a P3 profile with a refferal to the MEB for worsening scoliosis. I joined with a waiver but it is now very painful and my worst curve has gone from 34 degrees to 62 in 4 years as an infantryman in the guard. I was reffered for a full length spinal fusion by my civilian doctor. Is this really a medboard worthy condition?

Not sure for Army, but MSD for AF says this:

“Deviation or curvature of spine. Scoliosis exceeding 30 degrees lumbar or thoracic curvature, or interfering with function, vocation, or wear of military uniform or equipment.”

Has an “X” under retention which means disqualifying for continued military service. Keep in mind MRDP usually has to be reached as well, though I’m not familiar with what that looks like for scoliosis.

All that being said, hope whatever happens is in the best interest of you.

That is a massive progression in your spinal curve over just four years, especially while doing infantry work in the Guard. A curve jumping from 34 to 62 degrees alongside severe chronic pain and a civilian recommendation for a full spinal fusion is absolutely a medboard-worthy condition.
