Case sent to VA for rating

Okay, so I called the PEB office in DC last week and they said that my case had been submitted to the VA for rating, and I called the VA and they said they had rated it, and sent it back to the PEB office. I'm just curious, does this mean that I have been found unfit by the PEB?

I am in the same boat. On E-Benifits it now says that I am pending decision and that my package has been sent to Providence, RI for rating. My PEBLO has not heard anything and could not tell me for sure if I was found fit or unfit. Pretty frustrate with the lack of information during this process.

Agreed. There is no communication and I just would like to know what is going on with it? Now, I did call the DC office and got some good information there, but I just don't know if the VA is doing their ratings if that for sure means unfit. Does anyone know if the only reason for rating is because I was found unfit?

yes if peb sends packet to VA then they found you unfit if you were found fit it would have just went back to your peblo and you would have gotten a differnt profile and sen tback to duty or you would have to be reclass, but since it was sent to VA by PEB then yes you were found unfit. but during the new IDES process the VA gets your packet at first and they do there rating all they suppose to is wait for peb to say rate this soldier and with a week or two its suppose to be sent back. But in short term yes you were found unfit yur peblo should know that.

Sorry if I'm pulling up a somewhat old thread, but I asked this exact question in my post. Are you absolutely positive about this? My package went to the VA at Baltimore and was kicked back because they missed a few conditions at my VA exams. I was found unfit? If every PEBLO is supposed to know this, why won't my tell me? I would really like to start planning my new life if I'm being separated.

Write your PEBLO an email requesting why your packet was sent to the VA without him informing you of the fit/unfit finding. Include the Ombudsman or patients' advocate in that same email. That will get you a response. It worked for me. Good luck. e.g. "Dear Mr PEBLO, I noticed on my eBenefits account that the VA has received paperwork from the PEB. Why was I not informed of the PEB's decision? You are my link to the PEB and I need to stay up to date with my packet in order to have a seamless transition. Thank you." Remember to include the Ombudsman or patient's advocate in the email. Keep the email short and sweet. Don't show your frustration in words but show him that you will take it further if necessary. In my case, as soon as my PEBLO read my email, miraculously my preliminary 199 was emailed to me. He had sat on it for a whole month, and would not have sent it to me had I not written that email. His excuse was, "the PEB forgot to mail the prelim-199. I smiled and said thank you. From now on, all my emails to him also go to the ombudsman and patients' advocate. Regardless of the issue. I hope this strategy will help my fellow hurry-up-and-waiters.

your packet initially gets sent to the VA for preparation for rating and they will only start your full rating process once VA receives go ahead from PEB. But if its the initial exam that has flaws then its most likely they first packet, but you should email or call your PEBLO and ask if you have been found unfit.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. I have asked my PEBLO many times and she keeps saying that nothing has been decided yet.

I'm in the Air Force. We do not have Ebenefits or Ombudsman. My clinic does not have a patient advocate either. Just thought that I would throw that out there. The Air Force has a need to be different and often times less efficient than the Army.

Lilly, I think that any branch can get an Ebenefits account...I have one. I agree that we (AF) don't seem to have the same structure than other branches in re to this process...seems like our options are: PCM, PEBLO, Patient Advocate (base specific) and, if things don't work via those avenues, JAG/IG.

I am in the Air Force and have regidtered with ebenefits. Log in with CAC first time for primere membership. the hospital should have a patient Advocate if not an ombudsman. Just fill out a bunch of comment cards complaining.:). Or your CC can call and get a straight answer for you.

YES. E-benefits is accessible to ALL branch members with an active compensation request going thru the VA system. This is not limited to just ONE branch. Please keep in mind tht it's updating is fairly slow so it may be in a different stage and it shows a prior one, at least until someone decides to update its status...
