Ft Carson Timeline and my opinion

Ironicaly, I am at FT Carson. I was prior AF for 17yrs and was medically separated w/severance, so I think I have a unique perspective about this whole process. That's why I want to make sure my soldiers get as much info and everything that they deserve for what they have gone through. I don't want the same thing happening to them that happened to me.

Wow, I will have to refer soldiers to you as Fort Carson is the post I have the most problems with when helping soldiers. The WTU there seems to be ok but the Chain of command is well "very Dark!" They have Med hold units for soldiers going thru the MEB but do not always allow them to go to the VA appointments as they don’t always get an appointment slip for those. Also I’ve been told soldier’s commanders have ways of pushing the MEB to not reflect things like PTSD and even TBI. And are telling their troops that they will get that done after they get out and to not bother the PEBLO's with it because it delays the process. I wish the soldiers I know could come to you and I will be giving them your name if you don’t mind to get the best help.

Thanks The Chief

I don't mind at all. As for the Appointment slip thing, we started emailing directly to the commanders. The commanders only think they have ways of pushing things along, I make sure that my sodiers use every anvenue aforded them, ie IMRs Appeals. I want them to come away from this feeling good about what is going on, or at least as good as they can considering.

Update: I just found out today that my packet is sitting on IDES Director's desk. I am assuming I should be reviewing my Narsum by the end of the next week.

My last day at Ft Carson is the 15th of October. A special thank you goes out to Sascha. My experience going through the IDES process wasn't to bad, but certainly could of gone smoother. I had a good Peblo that responded to my calls and emails. She may not of had all the answers, but she didn't blow smoke and was always up front. My commander was clueless on the IDES program. Whats funny is I was never ask by my command how's things going or if I needed anything. Luckily I knew how to find the resources I needed.

Flagman, when did you sign your 199?

Im at Carson and can tell you my CC doesnt care about soldiers when they are going through the IDES. They want them out. Some units are useing IDES soldiers to do pretty much day on day off CQ & SD. One of my good friends. A NCO who I would trust my life with, but more important I would trust my soldiers lives to him. Is being pushed daily to the breaking point. He will be going back to impaitent for a secound time. My CSM told another CSM I have been hiding out for 10 months. REALLY. I go to work everyday. I have a GS15 and GS 12 backing me up, and a CSM that works with them doing the same. I have allready told the Dr that if I have to go back over to the unit I will not be responciable for waht happens. I thought FT Carson was better than it was when the war started, but it IS NOT.

4 ID......I assume that because that’s where I help the most soldiers. I have found that the CC of the Med Hold companies doesn’t care a bit. The fact that your friend is going to Mental Health for inpatient care again is very alarming. The Fort Carson Ombudsman up to this point has not been helpful and doesn’t return phone calls. I have spoken with the Col John M. McGrath the Hospital Commander and it seems he has no authority to help Med Hold Units only the WTU. I would recommend calling your Congressman or speaking with Sascha Roberson at MEB she is a PEBLO there. If the unit is irritating the PTSD or other injury that a soldier is being MEB’ed for than I would also recommend asking your Doctor to write an official letter to the TRIAD for reviewing WTU transfers in order to request you be moved to the WTU to aid in the healing and transfer process.

Chief, thanks for the info. Yes 4ID 2BCT. I will try these if it comes to that. As for my friend it was very upsetting to see him the way he was. I deffently make sure I keep incontact with him. Right now I am waiting on word back from the director where I work to see if I will stay where I am at. At this point I can either be atached or just stay BMM. I can tell you that when I heard that my BN CSM said I have been hiding out for 10 months I damn near lost it. This from a guy I have met once. It evan pissed the director here off. If this CSM thought I was hideing out then why did'nt he have the 1SG get ahold of me and fix the problem?? The answer he doesnt care one bit about me untill somebody ask him. Then he just jumps to conclusions. There is a reason I do not go over to the unit ever. I know I am not in full control of myself.

Just dont let the unit jerk you around. You are a wounded warrior not a lazy piece of $$$$. So stand up for your self and be willing to reach out for help because when you are out the CSM wont do anything for you so do for yourself now.

Sorry Dude lol ...no face with the name yet.
No worries..lke I said it is a common mistake. I endured it all through my military career, especially on deployments. People were always trying to put me in with the females.

I am in the MEB at Carson too, and I am jealous of your timeline!!! My P3 was signed and sent up November 2011, and I got my NARSUM back today. Besides flagman and their ridiculously fast time line, what was everyone elses time from NARSUM to ratings and orders?

My Narsum was sent up to FT. Lewis for approval. I have been on TDRL for almost 4 years, I just hope it doesn't take 6 months to get done. From what I took from it, I am unfit to continue service, now I have to wait for DOD decision.

I have to go see my PEBLO today to go over my NARSUM IMR appeal. The lawyer says I do not have to sign it, so I will not. The DCCS didnt even have the respect to call me and talk to me about the appeal. So Ill see. I am thinking I will ask for a different PEBLO. The one I have didnt like me telling her she works for me. She doesnt get the ONLY reason she or any civilian has a job on a military instalation is to support the soldier.

They do forget sometimes.

Wow...it looks like Ft. Carson is just as bad as Ft. Bliss. Sorry to hear about all the issues guys.

I started at the end of April and mine just got sent to the peb like 2 or 3 weeks ago waiting to hear back from them but the fact that I can no longer wear boots due to severe bi lateral plantar fasciitis I'm pretty sure it will be unfit...I mean could you imagine wearing tennis shoes to finish out three more years of service lol...

My Update, I just recieved my findings from FT. Lewis this afternoon. I got 100% PDRL!!!!!! I go sign my 199 tomorrow.
